Welcome to the iPhoneography User Forum > iPad Apps
Apple Webside makes to believe that every iPhone-App is running on iPad too, arent they?
Photos from iPhone are 2 or 3 Megapix, other imported pics may be even bigger. There should be no issue to show them on iPad. But how big is the market for photo apps on that device, if devolpment for porting is needed. It has no camera!

iPad II will probably be equipped with a camera. Add mobile phone function to iPad III and the life cycle will be complete.

I would think that the Ipad would be great for editing pics with your fingers with more surface area.

We will probably make a general app, with a whole range of filters and editing options, optimized for the iPad. Something like an iPhix on hormones, except that the iPad version will support full resolution from scratch, which iPhix still lacks.
There's no use to build Hipstamatic like camera apps for the iPad, so I guess lightroom, photoshop or illustrator-like apps will do best. Especially an illustrator like app will do fine. So I guess the focus will be put more on creation for iPad apps where for iPhone apps the main goal was taking, editing and optimizing pictures.

I'm not sure I'll get an iPad right away, although since it was announced, I can definitely see that it will be very nice to have -- just not essential.
I'm curious to see how Brushes works, and if PS Mobile, Photogen and PhotoForge are enhanced to take advantage of the new platform.
But, that begs the question "Is it still iPhoneography if an image is worked on an iPad?"

Old thread, but let me add my two cents:
I would like to see TiltShiftGen, Mill Colour, Monophix, perhaps an improved PureCarbon, and basic post-processing apps. I would like to see a good ingest type app -- something like PhotoMechanic.
Primarily I want to see an app that will allow for more editing flexibility -- for instance, I want to be able to select only part of an image to apply an effect.
Finally, given the iPad's size, and what I see as its capability for presentations, and field visual journalism -- I would love to see the iPad have a great app for digital storytelling, and photoessays. Say something like SoundSlides Pro (hopefully with output that won't be Flash, or Flash only). A cool app like that would be a wonderful addition, as it would make the iPad a wonderful presentation/display interactive board.
Thanks!

I would like to see Reel Director scaled up for iPad. With the ability to import video via the camera connect accessory, I think the iPad would be a great platform for sharing home videos.

I got to test out an iPad finally the other day. And wow. The iPhone apps look really horrible on it. I also don't see the point in all of it. What I mean is, the point in having camera apps on it. No camera, and do they automatically resize your photos like they do on the iPhone?

I connect my Panasonic Lumix DMC-DX7 camera to my iPad. The 720p HD movies and the 4000 x 3000 photos look absolutely great! Who needs a camera on the iPad when many of the compact cameras do a much better job than any built-in camera.

I would like to see any app that doesn't position itself as a camera on the iPad. Well any app that can work with "hi-res" images, that is. The iPad's interface is fantastic for mobile photo manipulation. The fact that it doesn't have a camera is irrelevant, unless you want to take pictures with it (I guess photograms would be possible if you really need to expose something to light). The fact that it has a larger editing surface, more ram and a faster processor opens up a lot of supposed limitations of the iPhone as a photo-manipulation platform. I'd also like to see new apps, especially an app that can create composite images, but at full resolution and with the option to do asymmetrical composites.

I know some of the posts above me are from a while back, but just in case the commentors didn't know yet....
Jim D- ReelDirector has been scaled up for iPad and it's amazing. Some iPad specific interface differences/improvements and best of all, you don't have to re-purchase! A huge kudos to the developer. Just needs local audio import feature (rather than PC transfer).
Camera for iPad- If you don't want to use the Photo Transfer app to send pics from you iPhone, there are serveral apps that turn the iPhone into a wireless camera that will allow a live preview on the iPad and remote shutter activation. So far (I'm trying 3 apps) the best one is "Wireless Camera" or "R Camera". You get full rez images from the phone over bluetooth or WiFi. BT transfer takes at least 2x longer.

If you are going to get Apple's new iPad, then what photo apps would you like to see ported to this new platform?
And if you are a developer, what apps are you planning to port to the iPad?
