Earlier this week Apple announced that app developers would be able to issue promo codes for their apps. These promo codes are limited to 50 per version of the app, and expire 4 weeks after creation. The intention of these promo codes is to allow developers to give sample copies of their app to blog sites like this one, for review, and can only be used on approved and released apps that are available in the App Store. These promo codes do not replace the existing Ad-Hoc method that allows for beta testing and requires the device ID, but complements it.

The bad news is that these promo codes are currently only valid on the US App Store, which is a real shame, as the US is not the only country that has app developers and reviewers!!
