Editors comments: I've not had chance to try this app, however reader Ed Sanabia has and has emailed me his thoughts on Ultimate Camera. I'd like to say thanks to Ed for sharing his thoughts on this app, which you can read below.
"I have purchased several of this developer's apps and liked their quality, so I thought I would give this one a shot. Overall, this is not a bad camera app, but it does have some areas that could use improvement, and I'm sure the developer will address them in future updates. The app is very quick and stable when working in the "Default" mode with autosaves that work in the background. Shooting as fast as the app would allow, I could shoot up to 5 shots in a row without problems on my 3G. More than that would occasionally cause the app to crash.
- The multishot option will only work in default camera mode with the timer set to a minimum interval of three seconds.
- The sound option for the shutter does not work with antishake and the sound threshold is not adjustable.
- Review option is available but does not offer the option to delete an image.
- Autosave works only in default mode.
When using any of the filter enhancements, you are presented with a low resolution preview and asked if you would like to save it. Saving takes a bit of time as the filter is applied to your image. There is no option to save the original unfiltered image.
The items I mentioned above are not neccessarily problems, but simply the normal operation of the app.
- The vivid filter works great and is a new favorite of mine.
- The black and white option leaves the image looking dark an dull, and the sepia option introduces too much red to be usable.
- The effects are not adjustable.
- The date option when used is red and can only be placed in the lower right corner.
- The flash option introduces a lot of noise and colors appear muddled.
- The antishake is effective, but the sesitivity is not adjustable and adds a few seconds to the shot as it works.
- Zoom saves are at the cropped reduced resolution.
As I said before, this is not a bad camera app, but it is not yet the Ultimate app to replace your other specialty camera apps. The filters need to be improved and perhaps offer a slider adjustment. Antishake could use a sesitivity adjustment, and flash needs improvement to be usable. Zoom saves at full resolution, and a buffer limit that would prevent the app from crashing would also be a great improvement. Date placement with color options and saving of the original image without filters is needed as well. I would also like to see a white balance adjustment. I look forward to future improvements of this app."

Ed, a great review! I agree with your assessment. This app has the potential to be a very good camera replacement app if they work out the bugs. I bought this app on the strength of Perfect Photo, another good MacPhun app. I really hope they address a lot of your points in forthcoming updates.
Thanks, Ed!
