The iPhoneography Showcase of Jenni Grant

I think I was about five years old. Sitting in my favorite place in the foyer. I began to take notice of the tall, slender window next to our front door that only let in a narrow slice of light. I suddenly saw a billion little dust particles passing slowly through the beam.  I was dumbfounded.  And I was moved.  Never doubt that a child can be moved by beauty.  It was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen.  For that moment, I lived inside this wonderous, luminescent world.  Where things were seen that are normally hidden.  Secrets and beauty revealed by light.  I wanted to see what everything looked like under that spotlight.  I was in love and I never wanted it to end.

The day I was given my first camera, I began a life-long pursuit of hunting down light. I've used photographic devices ranging from handmade pinhole cameras to sophisticated digital SLR cameras and everything in between. My latest toy is the camera within the iPhone. I recently participated in an exhibit that addressed the nature of mobile technology in the context of photography. The immediacy of cell phone cameras lends itself well to documentation. In this case, a kind of documentation of one's everyday life.

If you live in or near ATLANTA, Georgia, then you can check out more of Jenni's work, as she is one of the participants of The Cell Phone Photography Project, which running until the 16th October.

If you would like to showcase your iPhone photos here on the iPhoneography blog, then send me an email and I'll reply with details on how to submit.
