The iPhoneography Showcase of Shane O'Neill

Partly by accident, I picked up my camera about 20 years ago at the tender age of 11. It was an old Lomo and I was instantly hooked on photography. Having won my first competition two years later, I went on to study at the Dun Laoighre College of Art & Design where I learned that I needed the best and most expensive equipment to take the best images. It took me several years to get back to basics but I kept up my interest by entering and winning several international photographic competitions. About four years ago I quit my job as a trader and entered the world of professional photography – luckily for me I have not looked back.

Today I shoot mainly on Nikon digital but also use 35mm film and a Diana F+. Last month I bought a Polaroid 600 SE and a large batch of out-of-date film, which I plan to embark on a yet undecided project when my commercial activities slow down in Jan/Feb.

I have a particular interest in imagery using the iphone or iphonography. Sure, it is not the best camera on a mobile device but it is in the hands of the most creative people out there, thus the medium deserves special attention.

The apps I use most often are Photo FX and Tilt Shift Gen. Other apps used (infrequently) are Polarise, Panolab, IRCamFree, SnapBox, & Best Camera (the latter I used out of curiosity but find most of the actions have a tendency to blow highlights too much)

If you would like to se more of Shane's work, then check out his website for more images.

If you would like to showcase your iPhone photos here on the iPhoneography blog, then send me an email and I'll reply with details on how to submit.
