The iPhoneography Showcase of Scott MacDonald

Glyn Evans I've been a staff photographer at various newspapers for the past 10 years. It's a demanding job; I shoot multiple assignments daily under tight deadlines.
I have a simple rule I follow to keep myself from burning out as a professional photographer: If I don't feel like taking photos in my spare time, I don't.
Fortunately, I love photography, and more often than not, I end up shooting for myself.
There are a lot of rules to newspaper photojournalism: We're pursuing truth, and our images must be taken and processed in a truthful way.
The iPhone allows me a break from all that -- no rules, no expectations, no deadlines.
I started my iPhone photo blog in February 2009. I decided at the outset that the entire blog would be done from within the phone; each post would simply have a number and a picture. I use the Wordpress app to post everything.
My first photos were straight from the camera, but I quickly discovered the world of photo apps and have been fighting app addiction ever since.
My most-used app is CameraBag, my most-used filter is Helga. I've long loved shooting with my actual Holga, but I've never been good about developing the film.
Lately I've started loving Best Camera and have been experimenting with running photos through multiple apps. But I'm trying to avoid making this all too complicated -- I don't want it to feel like work.
Check out my iPhone blog at lookingaroundme.wordpress.com. My main website is scottmacdonaldphotography.com and my wedding photography is at scottmacdonaldweddings.com.
