Fill her up, more juice for your iPhone
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 6:51AM | Glyn Evans As anyone who uses their iPhone to take, edit and upload photo's in the field will tell you, the iPhone's battery will not last for a full days shoot. The good news is there are a number of solutions out there to fix this problem, from external batteries that with charge your iPhone when its battery has died, to ergonomically designed, form fitting case styles power packs like the MiLi, which I reviewed last month. For me it is this case style battery pack that I find most useful, as the iPhone first powers itself from these battery packs, and then switches to its own internal battery when the power packs had died, and so you can keep shooting, uninterrupted for twice as long as normal.
As this market is growing, I have decided to compile the current case style battery packs, but if I missed any, then please let me know.

Ivyskin smart case...I was very excited to get this. First day out and not so excited anymore. The design is the best hands down. Glass works flawless and the phone is very well protected...that's where the fun ends. Seems unless you have a cell tower attached to the device, it blocks nearly all but the strongest signal. This was the same problem I had with my short lived Mophie, which was rendered useless after the micro-USB broke after falling on a pillow while charging..common weak point. The Ivyskin battery control also has been giving me trouble when I turn it on, off, on. Most times it won't turn on again..just one blinking dot. Fine if you just leave it on, but the diminished signal renders the phone useless...I could save a lot of battery time if I turn the phone off! Same net effect! Back to their standard case..best around.
