iPhone App Review: Camera Plus 2
Sunday, February 22, 2009 at 9:40AM |
Glyn Evans Camera Plus has been completely rewritten and is now Camera Plus 2, and I was fortunate enough to get a pre-release copy of the app for review, so now that the app is available in the AppStore, here is my review.
Camera Plus 2 is an app that interfaces and enhances the iPhone built-in camera app by providing one of the nicest looking and simplest leveling and anti-shake apps that I have used.
Launch Camera Plus 2 and you are taken straight to the apps interface, where you will see 2 icons in the top right hand corner of the screen, a gear icon in the bottom left hand corner and a shutter icon bottom middle.Touch the gear icon and you are taken to the settings menu where you can turn on or off the apps features, like tap anywhere to take a photo, steady assist or use a grid to aid framing of your photos, and my preferred options are:
- Tap anywhere to shoot = ON
- Auto save = ON
- Steady and Level assist = ON, and sensitivity = MED
- Show grid = ON, and set to white

The top 2 icons are in the form of a circle and a camera, with the circle changing color depending on the positioning of the iPhone. An amber circle with a cross indicates that the iphone is face down, a red circle with arrow pointing left or right indicates the direction of any level adjustment, and finally a green circle indicates you are level and ready to shoot.
The camera icon is simple, red means your shaking, green means your steady, so when you have 2 green icons your ready to go, tap the screen or shutter icon (depending on your settings) and that's it, simple and effective. When Camera Plus was first released, it was priced at £0.59 ($.99), which was about right for this app, but Camera Plus 2 with its increased features has had its price increased to £1.19 ($1.99), which I was sad to see, but the good news is I have 5 promo codes up for grabs, so if you want the chance of getting one, then as per normal post your request.
Overall this is a nice, clean and simple app, which I do like, but I just wish the price had not increased.
Price: £1.19 ($1.99)
