Glyn Evans Want more than 2 megapixel's from your iPhone camera, well if you have a jail-broken iPhone then now you can, but how? you may ask. Well ClearCam from Occipital emulates the quality of a 4 megapixel camera by taking 6 photos in 2.5 seconds in Enhanced Mode which the developer says creates a sharper image with less noise.
So how does Enhanced Mode work?
- Select Enhanced and then click the Camera icon to start taking photos.
- Select the Photo Queue button in the bottom right. The current batch of 6 photos will be at the top of the list, and you can select it.
- You can flip through the images by tapping the selector at the bottom. This is a multitouch interface and you can zoom, rotate, and scroll the photos.
- Select the button on the bottom left to bring up a menu. Now you can jump to the sharpest photo or save the current photo to the camera roll.
- Select Align at the top right to stack the images precisely on top of each other. Then Enhance to create a sharper, 4 megapixel photo with less noise.
- You can now save the enhanced photo to the camera roll.

In addition to Enhanced Mode, ClearCam also has a QuickShot Mode.
What is QuickShot Mode?
- This mode takes 4 photos in under 2 seconds and saves the sharpest.
- Select QuickShot and then click the Camera icon to start taking photos. The sharpest photo will be saved to your camera roll.
Although this app will only work on jail-broken iPhone's, I wonder how long it will before other developers produce a similar product for us with none jail-broken iPhone's? Maybe this is something the developer of QuadCamera could include in a future release.
