Create your own iHockney

Glyn Evans If you saw my post the other day, and subsequently read the full article on the Mail online about David Hockney using his iPhone to create paintings, then like me you may have thought I quite fancy having a go at that myself. Well if like me you are no artist, then do not fear, as there are a number of apps in the AppStore to help you create that masterpiece.
In my quest to produce a piece of art, I first looked at Artist's Touch. Artist's Touch looked to be a fully featured app where by after you have loaded a photo in to the app, you use your finger to paint the picture. Whilst this looks straight forward, it is difficult to get to grips with and requires a lot of patience, which I am afraid is something I lack.
Next up was Pocket Artist, which not only creates realistic oil paintings out of any image, but also emulates the whole painting process and animates it smoothly in front of your eyes, as the video I shot below shows. (please note there is no sound on the video)
Pocket Artist was with out a doubt the best of the 2 apps, but its only downfall is it file output size, which is a disappointing 320 x 320 pixels.

If you not sure about this app, then there is good news, as there is a free light version that allow you to try the app before committing to the fully featured version.
