Zoom Lens coming to the iPhone soon
Monday, July 27, 2009 at 1:00PM | Glyn Evans You may have seen my warning about an app called Zoomer Cam and read my review of the far from perfect Camera Zoom, well there is good news on the way if you want a digital zoom app, as Matt Farrugia, the developer of the impressive Slideshow Builder has Zoom Lens ready and waiting.
Although this app has been developed, it will not be available until Apple release OS 3.1 for the iPhone, which is expected to be around September time.
Zoom Lens Features
On the live-view:
- pinchtozoomin or out.
- double-tap to zoom to 4x or back.
- single-tap to focus on the 3GS (all the way to 8x zoom).
- background saving/low memory/errors indicated by a blinking dot on the shutter button.
On the preview view:
- picture is sharpened compared to the live view.
- standard scroll/zoom behaviour (like Photos.app).
- background save or discard to go back to live view.
Above: Zoom Lens sample photo @ 4xMatt plans to make this app available (subject to Apple's approval) for £0.59/$.99, which if the sample photo is anything to go by, then this app may be one of the first true digital zoom apps.

Well, I would trust Matt any day over the other dude for Camera Zoom. Besides having the same name as me, he really impressed me with Slideshow Builder ;).
I just hope the images don't get too pixelated. I'll just have to wait for your judgement, Glyn, on which is the better app to get :).
