The iPhoneography Showcase of Matt Brock

I've been an enthusiastic photographer for about 20 years, mainly producing monochrome landscapes and cityscapes. I've never felt that expensive cameras are necessary in order to take great photographs, and in recent years I've been increasingly interested in the creative possibilities offered by phone cameras. The strengths of the iPhone are its immediate point-and-shoot potential combined with the unique artifacts added by its comparatively poor quality camera.

I've become extremely inspired by my iPhone - its low resolution camera combined with photo editing apps from the App Store are capable of producing some wonderful images. As a result of my iPhoneography I've become less concerned about realism and more interested in creating photographic art to express emotions and moods. I've also been using colour a lot more than I usually do, which I think is another result of this new approach. I have an iPhone blog which I use to show my photos with accompanying thoughts and ideas.

In addition to my interest in photography I write and produce electronica music under the name Dicepeople, and I work in computing. I have lived in London for over 15 years, and this great city provides the subject matter for many of my photographs.

All these photos have been taken and edited entirely on my iPhone 3G using the following apps: CameraBag, TiltShift, SnapBox, iFlashReady and CropForFree. After editing, I upload each photo straight to my iPhone blog using the excellent iPhone app for Tumblr.
