Above: The DIYgrip side view showing the handle and holderHaving posted news on the release of the Zgrip from Zacuto, it dawned on me that I had all the components needed to make my own DIY iPhone grip.
The key part to any iPhone grip is the holder, and the Zgrip uses the same holder as the range of PED-3's and NAJA King from Thoughtout, so as I have both of these I had my holder. Next I needed a handle or grip, so a quick rummage in the tool shed came up with a paint roller handle, which was just the right shape and size, and even better it also had the right size hole in the side to accommodate the mount on the rear of the PED-3 holder.
So to make this DIYgrip all I had to do was remove the metal rod from the paint roller handle, fit the rubber washer form the PED-3 stand in to the hole and mount the holder, and that was it, job done.
