New iPhone Photo App: Flickr

Today finally sees Yahoo release an official iPhone app for uploading your photos to Flickr

Description from the AppStore: Share your photos. Watch the world. Flickr® for the iPhone enables photo-sharing on the go - from your phone, to the world.

Shoot, upload and share photos & videos: Geo-tag your photos or add them to a set. View your photos by set and tag.

Stay up to date: See recent photo activities from your friends and family. Search and view photos by contact. Make comments or mark them as favorites.

Explore the world: Search photos & videos from the Flickr community all over the world - by subject, people, or places.

Editors comments: I held off posting news about this app until I had chance to download and try it out. Whilst this may be the official Flickr app, from an upload point of view it only offers basic features which can already be found in other apps like Flickit, and is nowhere near as feature rich as apps like Mobile Fotos, which have the ability to upload to Flickr groups.

I know this is version 1.0 of Flickr, and that I have only been able to play with it for a short while, but for me this is a disappointing app from Yahoo/Flickr, and will not steer me away from Mobile Fotos.

I am sure lots of you will disagree with my view, so feel free to post your comments and debate this app.

I could not agree with you more. It is a somewhat lame effort.
