2009, a year in review

So that's it, 2009 is over and 2010 has just begun, but what were the iPhoneography highlights of 2009?

Well for me they were....

In June we saw the release of the new iPhone 3GS with OS 3.0, and the OS 3.0 upgrade for the rest of us.

Also in June, and following the release of the new iPhone 3GS and OS 3.0, I revealed just how many photo apps no longer worked under OS 3.0 and warned against upgrading. At this time I made my first contact with Phil Schiller, and following an exchange of emails was able to reveal that Apple would be addressing these issues with the release of OS 3.1.

In July, Sion Fullana, one of the blogs featured iPhoneographers struck it lucky when he was approached by the editor of Time Out New York magazine and commissioned to shoot a magazine cover for them, and this was as a direct result of being featured here on the iPhoneograhy blog.

November sees more success for Sion Fullana as one of his iPhone photos is selected for the cover of a book.

In November/December Patrick Timney unearthed an AppStore review and ratings scam by developer Molinker, and with my help we brought this to Apple's attention, resulting in the expulsion of Molinker and the removal of all their apps, over 1,000 in total.

December saw the availability of video capture apps designed for use on the iPhone and iPhone 3G, but at 7 fps (frames per second) these apps are only really suitable for occasional use, but they are better than nothing.

December also saw the teaming up of 2 one man band blogs, the iPhoneography blog and Life in LoFi, allowing Marty and myself to share resources and free up time to pursue additional stories and projects for our blogs. http://www.iphoneography.com/journal/2009/12/27/announcement-the-iphoneography-blog-and-life-in-lofi-working.html

December 20th saw the official announcement that I would be hosting the "Photo App Pavilion" at the upcoming PMA 2010 International Convention and Trade Show from February 21-23, 2010, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California.

And finally on the 28th December and after a long approval process, Format126, a retro photo app developed in collaboration between myself and Chris Comair hit the AppStore [if you don't already have a copy, then you can grab it here, oh and did I forget to mention, it's FREE]

So these were my highlights of 2009, but what were yours?

It was a wonderful year for iPhoneography... and many of its achievements are related to you, Glyn!!

As for me, I can't be anything but super grateful for every bit of support you gave me, and I can't wait for the PMA convention to meet you and work together. Thank you very much and happy New Year!! Much success to iPhoneographers and iPhoneography.com on this 2010!!!

2009 was a lot better for me. :) I submitted some photos to my local college's art magazine, and they used two, and one was on the cover, haha. I was so excited it was my first time submitting. My photo might also be in an E-Magazine soon, (we will see) I won a Diana F+ Camera, I got a Canon Rebel T1i for my birthday with some lens from a friend, I learned a lot more about my iPhone and tons of new photo apps, and I got a fish eye lens, and some polaroid cameras. It was a wonderful camera year.

Sion- That is way too amazing. Seriously cool. Congrats on all your success!! I hope I can have one of my photos on a book someday! :D
