As always, I'm blown away by the moments you are able to catch, Sion. Marvelous.
with all due respect i love looking at sion's pictures but why is sion's john s lens much brighter and cleaner looking than mine? are those pictures posted straight from hipstamatic or do they get edited a little first?
JC, You can't edit photos and then open with Hipstamatic. What issues are you having?
doug... i think u should read jc's post again...
Well..... first of all, thanks Glyn for a beautiful post and the chance of sharing some of these shots.
And thanks Tony and JC for the nice words on my work.
As for the whole debate, here's the answer. When it comes to images taken with Hipstamatic, I normally don't do ANY processing on any other app (iPhone or computer). If any, it would be to crop the frame when I think a photo will look better that way (there's 3 examples in this post). About the brightness, there is only one image on the batch where I raised the contrast a bit and took out some sharpening on iPhoto, to make it look at its best possible. It's "The Girl with the Wool Blue Hat". The rest are straight from the 3Gs.
I see that you've cropped the white frame of the b/w shots. I've actually asked myself why did they put that ugly thing around that beauty. dear developers: take that awful thing off, or your program will be worth a lot less. (yeah, I've even bought that instapack, but that white frame pisses me off) (just look at those b/w shots, how beautiful they are without that ugly thing around)
I find it hard to get the shots I want in the Hipstamatic Camera. For that reason alone I never use it to shoot people. I find by the time I get the lens, film, and flash the way I want the moment had passed. I was really impressed with the people shots from your work. I have the feeling you walk around with the application up and running and set to one type of set up for awhile. Then you just snap away as you walk.
If Hipstamatic gave you access to your camera roll I would be able to use it allot more then I do now. I tend to stick to lo-mob and other programs that let you post process in them. I understand their concept but I guess I would just like to use the program more.
Excellent shots I really enjoy them.
Beautiful shots. I remember commenting on some of them on your Flickr. Really lovely.
Glyn- If you ever want anymore Hipstamatic shots, I have tons. Just today I went on a walk with my dog and shot over 30 Hipsta prints. It's so addicting!
That first photo reminds me of the famous photograph by Henri Cartier-Bresson of a man jumping across a puddle, as shown here:

@scott before I even looked at the link of the photo I knew which one you were talking about. You have a good point I was thinking the exact same thing when I first saw it.

Great images. Very inspiring. I've put some of them in my newest gallery on Flickr: Hipstamatic: The John S Tribute. Enjoy it!
