New iPhone Photo App: moreMono

Description from the AppStore: Go Innovative! Go Red! moreMono (Red Edition) is a FREE photo editing application designed for iPhone 3G/3GS. It converts your photo to monotone and preserves the red tone to give a strong and dramatic look!

No smudging, no finger painting, no tools needed. It all does it in one-click!

Editors comments: As with all of the .more apps, from the apps home screen you have 2 choices, take a photo or select/load a photo. If, as I generally do, you select a photo, then you are taken to the camera roll where you can select a photo to be loaded.  Once loaded the 'Normal' effect is applied by default to your photo, but you have 2 other choices, 'Portrait' and 'Maximum', and these options apply the effect at different strengths. There is also an 'Original' option so that you can compare the differences between the effects. When done hit save, and the photo is saved at 1024 x 768, which is OK'ish for a free app, but it would have been nice if the app supported full res.

As per the apps description, this app is intended to o be used with photos that contain a dominant RED object/subject, but it does work well on any photo with strong vibrant colours.

What is worth pointing out, is this effect is not to dissimilar to that produced by the ColorHint filter found in my own app Format126.

Overall this is another nice free app from developer More-Thing which is worth checking out.
