Format126: What the future holds

So after a long wait Format126 [AppStore Link] is finally with us, but we are not stopping at version 1.0, and have some great ideas for future releases.

Format126 version 1.1*, the next release

Chris is already working on the update to bring Format126 to version 1.1, but what will version 1.1 contain I hear you ask? well...

  • first and foremost are a couple of minor bug fixes
  • next up will be a "Flash Bulb' mode, which will lighten your shots and emulate the use os a flash cube
  • and finally we will be adding a square overlay to aid framing when using the camera app to take your square Format126 shots right inside the app itself

*hopefully this update will be available in about 1 month

Format126 version 1.2, and beyond...

Myself and Chris have some ideas to grow Format126 in to one of the best retro camera apps for the iPhone, but our ideas for version 1.2 and beyond are currently under raps, but will be revealed when we are closer to a release.

Any possible way to get the resolution up to the 1200x1600...?

So were does all the other pixels go which could be used to further smooth out the picture?

Why toss pixels when they are a benefit to a image?

Nice app otherwise.

@Digital Artist

Go to the settings, and adjust the output resolution. If you select "Original" you will output at the full 1200x1600.

The reason why developers prefer to not, at least by default, output at large resolutions is because of the limited performance of the devices. Furthermore, images are one of the things that take up the most RAM when being processed, and on a device like the iPhone, eating up large amount of RAM can potentially cause significant stability issues.

Hey there,

The one thing I would like to see in the app is the ability to determine where the square is in pictures you've already taken. Sometimes it cuts off a person's head due to my framing and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix that. Other than that, looks great!

Keep up the good work!

It already is amongst the best iphone retro camera apps! Absolutely love it! I can imagine it is pretty hard thinking of how to improve something so well thought out already.

I would like to do double exposures though and have the filters work on both pictures. Its just one of those things I miss with my Smena and holga. Or maybe I just haven't found an app that does that.

I get a message saying your app isn't available in the U.S. app store. Is this change recent? I'm trying to download it but can't.
