New iPhone Photo App: Pinhole Camera

App Store Description: Famous pinhole camera effect with unique Double Exposure option!

Create original pinhole photos with the ease of your iPhone!

Home made pinhole cameras (consisting of a light-proof box with a small hole without lens) became very popular because of their ability to deliver dreamy, surreal landscape pictures.

Pinhole Camera App for iPhone brings you the authentic feeling of simple handmade pinhole camera with all of its characteristic blurness, saturation and specifically dimmed margins.

View your unique photos made with Pinhole Camere App in Pinhole custom gallery, share them with your friends via Facebook or mail.

Editors comments: This a quirky little app, that sadly offers very little.  The app is very basic offering just 3 film types, that produces low-res 640x640 pixel square format images.

It does have a nice double exposure feature, but this sadly does not make the app worth buying.  Based on this apps limited functionality and low-res output I am only giving this app 1 star!!

I like this little app a lot!
I give it 3 stars for now. I've been using it all weekend & it's a lot of fun--especially the double exposure (which sometimes crashes my 3G).
It's a little bit slow processing. The facebook uploads are faster than a lot of other apps though.
It's easily worth a buck. I only hope that buck goes toward full-rez photos & 3G stability.
Yeah it only has 3 film types, but those 3 are, to my eyes, rather unique :)

Again, I'm on the outside looking in...this is another app that I like ;) I know, I know, Toy Camera has a Pinhole option, but there's just something about this one that feels good to use!

*goes back and hides now* :D

When I got my fine arts degree in photography, pinhole was one area that I studied like a madman. I will surely have to try this app, but it's going to be difficult to render a true pinhole image that keeps the dimensionless look to it.

I've been very curious about the double exposure aspect of this app. Can anyone comment on how it functions, i.e. shoot over the transparency of the first shot?
And as a side note, are there other apps that offer a good 'realtime' double exposure?

The double exposure is, like the "viewfinder," somewhat random. It seems to simply overlap. I thought that by arranging the 2 shots so that what's bright in one fills the dark of the other it might act like film. It doesn't seem to work that way. Still, it's a cool effect & with practice I've gotten a few really cool shots. You can see a couple of them here:

It's no hipstamatic. It's it's own little app though. And I've been having fun with it

Thanks for your thoughts Marc. I'd love to see hipstamatic add a double exposure pack.
May have to suggest that to them.

The more I play with this app the more I like it. The images look great and do have that characteristic flatness that pinhole images have. I think I will be using this app quite a bit.
Now if they could only increase the image size and maybe a few more film options this would be a great app. I would like to see more black and white films and maybe one that has light leaks. One other small thing I would like to see change is the button for double exposure shut off after you take a double exposed image. I find that when I go to the next shot I have to remember to turn it off. Overall this is one app that I am very excited about.

I might have to try this app out if they get full res in gear. But then again, I might just get it in anticipation that it might be coming soon. I hope the developer is reading this!!!

This app used to be fantastic. Since the last iphone ios update 4.3.1 alignment is off in the viewfinder of the app, with blue bar showing in upper portion. I contacted the developer via email and FB. NO RESPONSE !!!!! Are they dead? I only ask because i love this app. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thank you

Great app but yeah, the viewfinder is off, can't contact the developers and actually the app seems to have been removed from the apple store :(

Shame...
