Today sees the start of the Emergent International Photo Festival in Lleida, Spain, and at this evenings opening conference, "Nice To Meet You", guest speaker Pedro Vicente Mullor talked about how camera phones are playing a major role in modern day photography.
He went on to talk about the iPhone, the Eyephoneography show that took place in Madrid, showing sample photos from Sion Fullana and Greg Shmigel, before telling the audience about the iPhoneography Exhibition at La Panera Art Center in Lleida, showing photos from Alex Kess, Sasurau, and Jordi V Pou, along with the iPhoneography blogs coverage of the Lleida exhibition.
With all these exhibitions and presentations taking place around the globe, it is looking like iPhoneography is finally coming of age, and being taken as serious form of art and photographic expression.
What is Emergent?
Emergent is a recreational and creative festival focused on the photographic media with the following objectives: It works together with photography and audiovisual schools in order to stimulate the photographic and artistic creation among the youngest ones, and at the same time, it represents a launch pad for the new emerging talented artists. It is a plural reflection space, critic and also a good place to learn about the photographic and audiovisual current world. It promotes the photography as a tool for the social inclusion, in collaboration with other entities working in the social action field. It contributes to the first level art decentralization bringing that closer to Lleida.
