App Update: Infinicam

Infinicam from Nevercenter, the developers behind the very successful CameraBag has just been updated.
So what's new?
- Added the ability to turn individual border styles on and off from the Settings app so Infinicam will only use the border styles you like best.
- You can now restore the default filters (without losing your personally-added favorites) from the Settings app.
- Now when you are on a favorite filter and you change the border style of your photo, the favorite filter remembers its original border style when you use it next.
- Added some new default filters (you must restore default filters from the Infinicam section of the Settings app to see them).
- Updated for compatibility with iOS 4.2
Despite this update, I still find this application both limited and disappointing.

Was wondering why you felt that way? I personally really love this app, a lot.
Also, the borders are now high resolution with square frames and slides being hipstamatic resolution of 1936x1936. Sprocket hole slide frames are full lengthwise, but obviously narrowed down widthwise. This update makes me really satisfied with Infinicam as a useable app now that the aspect ratio problem has been fixed.
@Kristin, I just don't find the results very appealing of inspiring. Whilst different, I prefer the results from PictureShow.
I love this app too. I have gotten some very interesting pics using it. Pity you don't like it Glyn.
No the aspect ratio or resolution has not been fixed. "narrowed down widthwise" IS the problem. Thus this app is still a very disappointing release & why anyone would accept a smaller saved image size than ones own full sized resolution makes no sense at all. To think or say that in order to get such effect or border you must accept a cropped lower aspect ratio is absurd. This app had so much potential & has become a let down ever since.
I wouldn't buy another Nevercenter product again.
I also have to cast a vote for loving this app. I do admit that a few of the filters are not that interesting but that is true of any app.
I love this app too. Way better than most out there! I was absolutely giddy when I found it. Been using it a lot ever since. It's also great when applied with other applications because it doesn't force you to use a border. I give this app a 10+
I must also agree: I don't see where this app is limiting.
Actually, compared to many other apps, this one finds a more-than-acceptable balance between possibility and limitation. Other apps are either too limited (ex, choosing between 8 filters and 3 border combinations) or too broad for casual users (Krause's cumbersome TiltShift vs. the ever popular, easy TiltShiftGen).
Additionally, this app also strikes a better balance between time and image rendering.
This app still has potential, and for the rest of us mortals it presents some fresh alternatives and combinations in the meantime.
I would close this by saying that I am satisfied with the resolution, given it's retro feel. It appears fine on Flickr, too. Infinicam is what it is: "...a fun, stylish interface..." We should all just take it as it is and have fun.
kind of mixed about this one. The photo effects often look overdone, too high contrast, some of the frames are very nice. App needs UI sounds! I feel as if I'm deaf when I use this app (besides many others that lack UI sounds).
Another vote here for loving it
I love the app although I haven't used much but when I do I spend a lot of time with cycling new filters. It's kinda of like swankolab I love it but don't use it a lot but I still enjoy it every time I use it.
+1 for loving the app also, not sure what your problem is with it Glyn, some personal beef?
@Tom, no, it just doesn't float my boat.
I don't like to use Infinicam because of its user interface. I have more effectapps and open them once a month, so for me the apps work the best that have clean interfaces. The design and effects are ok but it would be better if it was done in a clean 'Camerabag-like (the app)'-style.
Well ifs true it takes time to find interesting filters. But once you've found your favourites, it is better than a lot of other apps where some filters are just useless... And I like the idea that you can always discover new ones.
The description sounds good. The mystery to me is why CameraBag is so popular - talk about limited! Just 14 pre-set filters with no customization available, and many of those filters are very rarely useful.
@JonnyGerman
I took Camerabag as an example of a clean intuitive interface. The filters of Inifinicam and interface of Camerbag would be an ideal combo 8-)
I like Infinicam but sort of burnt out on it already. What it comes down to is that while the choices seem endless, there's only a small portion that I find usable. Still, it's an app that I have in my toolbox.
@JonnyGerman
@Eric
Good points about CameraBag. Seemed it caught enough momentum (plus a published book) early on while we were all pining after anything reliable and easy during the 3G days...
But to combine the two interfaces would be great! I believe that's were Infinicam is pointing but needs to go further.
B/R
(correction: the book was from Best Camera, not Camerabag)
oops :-)
Personallly, I love it :)
