I still don't know why this app has such a low rating in the iTunes store, personally, I think it's gotta lotta bang for it's buck!
I hear you, Jennyland. I think many of the folks who download photo apps don't really get what the apps are all about. They think, why am I paying money to take blurry photos with the colors all messed up?
Hipstamatic seems kind of immune because the name tips downloaders that if they don't dig it, they're probably just not hip enough. But the concepts "toy" and "plastic" translate to many people as "cheap" and "crappy."
Which still doesn't explain why they downloaded the app in the first place.
I also have to agree. I didnt "get" this app until I did the in app purchase to remove the watermark and unleash the lenses.I suspect a lot of users didnt get passed that and wrote it off as a bad free app. I'll admit, the trial sucks. This is one of my top 3 camera replacement apps and it just keeps getting better. It's not perfectly stable, but I love the images I get from it. I made sure to review it and give it a high rating.
If you havent downloaded it yet. Do the download and immediately exercise the in app purchase. Great app!
I love the app. Especially the pinhole lens cause it allows you double exposures. With the update now the time lapse between the two shots is controllable which makes it even better. The only thing i still miss is the impossibility to turn of the very hard vignette effect on this lens. But, it's called pinhole and not double exposure so i don't complain.
The new photo booth lens is nice to use with the front lens. But a little bit much more resolution would be nice.
I am still trying to figure out why the pinhole camera takes double exposures. I like this app a lot but it's a bit tricky to figure out.
I want to update to the new version but am confused by the developers note.
What does "NOTE: If you are on iPhone OS 3.x, Please do not update ClassicTOY 5. Wait for version 5.0.1." mean? I have 3GS. Can I update?
@Jewpie, if you are not using iOS 4, don't update. They are referring to the phone's OS not the model. If you are using iOS 3 (.x means any version) don't update.
@WadeHM, Thank you so so much for clarifying! I'm wiser now and I am glad I can update :D
Hi folks. If you want to see what this app can do, you can download my complete chart of the 8 lenses and 14 films (w/o OD mode) on my blog, icommephoto :

Even if you don't read french : click the big picture to download the PDF.
How do you turn off the overdrive mode in the new updated version? I can't seem to find a button. This app is one of my faves. I rate it well above Hipstamatic.
I'm having the same issue as Mike Zero. I can't turn off the overdrive.
Hi,
Here is the solution to deactivate the overdrive :
In the film selection, set the cursor on "normal" and neither on "Super Toy" nor "Grunge" : the green "OD" will disappear from the upper right part of the screen.

@Yann....Thanks for the reply. I do not have a green "OD" in the upper right part of my screen. I only have the words "overdrive mode" under the films. There is no "button" to turn it off. This is using the latest update.
@Mike Zero : Sorry for the lack of precision of my post. Under the film, there is "Overdrive Mode", and at the right of it, "Original", "Super Toy" and "Grunge". Set the switch by touching it on the position "Original" to deactivate the Overdrive mode, or set it on "Super Toy" or "Grunge" to activate it. It's only when you activate the overdrive mode that the green "OD" appears on the upper right corner of the finder (at the left of the cursor allowing the setting of resolution, "standard, medium, high). Hope it will help !
This app is great, maybe one of those few I am actually using everyday. I am not a pro photographer, so all these retro-hipsta-plastic-lomo camera apps look the same for me, at least they all give pretty much similar effects. But what I like about TOY camera is that it is simple, but gives some nice results. A suggestion to the developer - not to try to beat Hipstamatic or compete with them for the users. Hipstamatic is a king of the Hill and most probably will stay there, because the app is great and the brand is strong. But TOY camera has some nice features to be on the iPhone side by side with Hipstamatic, not instead:)
@Yann.....Yes! I see it now. Thanks for that info. I was overlooking the "OD" on the screen. Very Helpful, Thanks again! ^_^
