Pepper's ghost on the iPhone

Glyn Evans Japanese development team Directions Inc. have come up with the i3DG, a viewer that attaches to your iPhone or iPod touch, and with the aid of 45 degree mirrors, projects the iPhone or iPod touch screen to give a ghostly 3D view, just like Pepper's ghost.
What is Pepper's ghost?
"Pepper's ghost is an illusionary technique used in theater and in some magic tricks. Using a plate glass and special lighting techniques, it can make objects seem to appear or disappear, or make one object seem to "morph" into another. It is named after John Henry Pepper, who first demonstrated the technique in the 1860s."
Currently there are no plans for the i3DG to go into production, but instead are being used for workshops & exhibitions, with the first entitled "PALM TOP THEATER" which will be held on the 22nd January 2011 till the 13th February 2011 at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam.

I would buy that in a second
They will make millions if they patent and market that. I would buy one too.
I would not buy that. It is a very cool project to show old school illusions that can work on new technology, but the way it is has no actual function. It would not work with most games and would not work with videos because of it needing to be broken down in the three layers. It is a very cool project but i am glad that they have realized that there is no use in marketing it.
I totally agree with Andrew.
Games wont work as you need to touch the screen and unless movies are made with this tech in mind (ie split the images into 3 component parts) it wont work. I will admit, it looks really cool and would buy one for the sake of it, just so i can show off mt iphone again, but it has no practical uses.
