Creative Boost - FX Photo Studio Contest

Pro iPhoneographers intend to boost iPhone users’ creativity

New York
, NY - Top iPhoneographers from Europe, Asia and USA, blog iPhoneography.com and FX Photo Studio app get together to boost creativity of iPhone and iPod touch users. An international photo contest “FX Photo Studio CREATIVE BOOST” lets people experiment with mixing of photo effects on pictures taken with iPhone and gives a chance to win MacBook Air (2010 model).

Starting from Friday, November 19, 2010, pictures taken with iPhone will be placed in a contest gallery on www.fxphotostudio.tumblr.com. All photos are taken by professional iPhoneographers, including: Robert-Paul Jansen, Max Berkowitz, Daniel K. Berman, Aik Beng Chia, Miki Ballard, Andrew Royston, and others. Those who decide to take part in the contest should simply upload any of the pictures from the contest gallery to their iDevice and edit the image, using FX Photo Studio. The app includes 171 photo effects and filters, which can be adjusted and mixed, so basically the users get unlimited space for their creativity over the picture they choose. Creations should be submitted via twitter to FX Photo Studio (@fxphotostudio). Description of the photo should include the name of the author of the original picture and list the effects used in the mix (example: contrast + vintage blue + vignette 2).

Two winners of the week will be announced every Friday (starting from November, 26, 2010 till December 31, 2010). Both will get $50 App Store gift cards (or local currency equivalent). First winner of the week is chosen by iPhoneography.com editorial staff, FX Photo Studio developers and iPhoneographers. Second winner will be chosen by public vote on Facebook. Participants can upload their pictures to FX Photo Studio Facebook Fan Page (www.facebook.com/fxphotostudio) – the winner is the one, who gets most “likes” from other people. The winner of “Creative Boost” will be announced not later than January 3, 2011, and the lucky winner will get a MacBook Air 11’ (model 2010), shipped to his doorstep.

Participants can submit as many photos for the contest, as they want. Detailed rules of “FX Photo Studio CREATIVE BOOST” can be found on www.fxphotostudio.tumblr.com

FX Photo Studio has received positive reviews from both Pro iPhoneographers and regular users of iDevices; it was as well featured on the cover of the book “Incredible iPhone Apps for Dummies”, the author of which dedicated two pages to the App, describing why people should buy it. FX Photo Studio is developed by MacPhun LLC, which focuses on developing photo and video apps for iDevices (other products include Perfect Photo, Vintage Video Maker, PhotoPal, etc). www.fxphotostudioapp.com. cool contest, shame that the only way to enter is through twitter, ive never cought onto twitter, have no idea how to use it and dont plan on using it.. is there any other way that could possible work to enter? email ? or another tumblr account where anybody can submit to the blog ?

Hi Robert, we decided to use twitter account as it looks like one of the most commonly used social services nowadays, besides it will let people show their creation to hundreds of people around. But, Twitter is not your choice, you may submit it to our Facebook Page, as some other people did - www.facebook.com/fxphotostudio. But we still plan to announce winner via twitter, so if at least one of your friends is using this social network, ask him to follow us (@fxphotostudio), so you don't miss the news, in case you get the prize:)))) Thanks for your interest

2 Robert-Paul, I still have some redeems. Any idea how we can play with them?)

November 19, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAlex (FX Photo Studio)

So we have to use one of the supplied photos, not our own?

re twitter:
I have been excited by other opportunities to share images, such as Hipstamatic's monthly contests. The Twitter requirement though really sticks in my craw. Rather than thinking how great it is they (or you) offer such a venue I'm just angry. "No Sir. I do not like it!"

2Charles: if twitter doesn't work for you, do u ha ve other suggestion. The question is whether you like to participate and what stops u. If twitter is the only reason - share your way?) ready to think over it

2WadeHM - for this contest you got to use the pictures given. Thanks

Just wondering, who is considered a professional iPhoneographer? someone who shoots with one everyday? I'm just wondering, because I use my iPhone all the time, constantly taking photos and using different apps, so I was wondering what makes one fall into the category of professional?

2Alexander: I understand the nature of this event. By asking for submissions you are likely to receive creative works from many artists. By controlling the input you move the finished works along avenues. You will be able to use the finished works to promote your products which I have and use by the way. I get that and I applaud it. Frankly A.B.C. is among my favorites and being able to manipulate his work as well as other's is stimulating to me. All of that I'm fine with. Twitter on the other hand just doesn't work for me, it's cumbersome and boring. There are many other ways to transmit imagery on line. E-mail pops immediately to mind, it's effective and most often used. How about you...are you ready to think it over?

2 K. Not to be too much of a curmudgeon...but in my opinion one becomes a professional photographer by professing to be one.

November 20, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCharles

Just like hipstamatic contests i say: Twitter sucks! Why not e-mail?

November 20, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterruben

To Charles and Ruben and all those who might ask about the same in the future. Just updated the contest rules a bit, go ahead and share your works via Email, Twitter or Facebook, there should not be any obstacles for the creativity:)) Details in the rules description here: creativeboost.tumblr.com. At the same time, you might want (but again this is optional) to follow us on Twitter on Facebook as we will announce winners there. Cheers.

Thank you for being flexible regarding being able to email the photos in. I, too, do not use or prefer twitter, and I know others share this sentiment.

So, do I understand that we are to edit one of the photos you offer with FX Photo Studio; note the specific names of the effect(s) we used, and submit as many individual photos as we choose to edit?

Thanks much,

Steven

Correct, looking forward to your submissions! And it would be great if u joined us on facebook, if u r there of course)))

November 20, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAlexander (FX Photo Studio)

I would appreciate it if anyone would offer their best suggestions as to how to download the photos to my iphone at their highest resolution and at full frame?

Normally when I create an image or am emailed an image I can just save it to the photo roll. I do not see that option here.

Thank you very much.

Steven

There's little too much marketing aspect to this contest than creativity and iphone photography.

November 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDilon

@ Kristin....
For iphoneography I think reputation is everything.
I think a Pro shooter would have their own galleries ect like ABC.
If people want you to take shots for their competitions it means you've made it :)

November 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBenjamin

To Dilon: I think everything around is marketing of something, even by your post you are trying to market yourself:)
