Coming soon: FX Photo Studio 3.0
Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 10:00AM | Glyn Evans FX Photo Studio [App Store Link] from developer MacPhun, which boasts 140 photo effects and filters is about to get a major update. Version 3.0 of this app has just submitted to Apple for approval, and if approved, will boast 171 effects and filters, but that's not all. As the video below shows, unlike the current version of this app, these effects and filters can be mixed and tweaked to create a wide range of looks.
But what else can we expect from this updated app?
The following is from MacPhun's press release: The enhanced version of FX Photo Studio further simplifies editing and sharing of pictures, letting users mix and tune photo effects hundreds different ways. One can apply multiple effects to an image and use multistep undo option, if not satisfied with the results. A great advantage is that users need no special technical knowledge to get most of what FX Photo Studio 3.0 has to offer. Updated version is expected to hit the App Store in the mid November, 2010.
KEY FEATURES OF UPDATED FX PHOTO STUDIO INCLUDE:
- 171 photo effects and filters (31 new effects, comparing to the version 2.6.0)
- New enhanced user Interface
- User friendly customization options: one tap control for adjusting all of the effects
- Presets feature: permits to save sequences of effects & apply them on others pictures with just one tap
- Easy image sharing between iDevice and computer with ‘Documents’ feature
- Possibility to choose resolution of images to modify, up to 2592 x 2592 pixels (for iPhone 4)
- Image resizing option when uploading images to online services
- Built-in sharing via Flickr, Facebook, Twitter or E-mail
- Full iPhone and iPod Touch compatibility (all versions)
FX Photo Studio 3.0 features three new categories: Groovy Lo-Fi (with effects simulating analog photos from 70s, 80s, and 90s), Grunge (such effects as Grunge Rays, Stencil Graffiti, etc.), SFX (such effects as X-ray and Night Vision Cam); old categories have also been updated with new effects.

Wow, I took a look at the app not too long ago and all the cheesy filters made me pass it over. Now it looks like a good buy!
What i like so much about my favourite app Joy Camera is that you can apply multiple filters and set the parameters for each....However that is only pre-processing....Is this both pre & post process?.....Sounds like it might be a hit!

For those who asked regarding purchasing, buy it today, if you want to save - ver 3.0 is an update, which comes free of charge for those who own the App. Those who don't buy it at a new cost:) The choice is yours:)

Looks great. One question though. Will there still be in app purchases to get the full range of effects in the new update. Bought this before but deleted it due to in app purchases.
Truth be told I was already very impressed by FX Photo Studio but this update has mae me even happier with the purchase. Great job!

This was always a great app!
Update will have 171 effects. There are about 27 other effects, which come as in-aps for those who want to get more:) But 171, plus mixing and adjusting are in the update without extra payments:) Planning to launch a photo contest soon. Hope you will all join:)
