Editors comments: There is no mention of full-res support with this app, so I suspect this is a low-res app, but that said it does look very impressive.
If any of you do try this app, then please be sure to come back and post your comments.

I had to take the plunge. I am a sucker for photo apps.
Test photo saves at 960x720
960x720 = 691,200 To convert to megapixels, divide the result by 1 million. 691,200/1,000,000 = 0.69, or about 0.7 megapixels (slightly under 1 megapixel)
There is no option to set a larger size so hopefully this comes in the future. I am looking forward to doing some light painting though.
Yes, using "Lab" app confirms what Darren says. But that's still decent size, and the camera effects are not available anywhere else AFAIK. Like Darren I am a photo app sucker. I will be trying some night shots.
Would this work on a iPhone 3GS? Watched the video an looks great.
Looks interesting, but I'm not willing shell out $3 for such a low resolution app. Hopefully they are planning to support iPhone 4 resolution in the future, then I'll take a look.
Do you suppose that it's low res because they are using video to pull off those long exposure tricks?
Has anyone used this with a 3GS? On the video it show an iPhone 4 and uses flash.
Response from developer
Me:
I just bought your app and look forward to using it. I am a little disappointed that the images do not save at full resolution for the camera. I do hope this changes.
Thank you.
Developer:
The apple iphone can not control the camera shutter itself. So I use program to create result just like use slow shutter.
Because the provisions of apple don't allow me to use full resolution for the camera. But I will try to increase picture resolution in the future.
Thank you for your comments and surrport.
P.S. Next month I will update Magic Shutter to add more function.
It seems like this app is shooting video and blending the frames into a single image. If this is correct then the resolution will likely not increase.
@ Darrin & Steve: Are you both using iPhone 4s? Has anyone tried this using a 3GS?
Sorry to reiterated what others have already posted; I didn't refresh before posting.
If it does use video, a similar effect could probably be created using VideoPix and either DXP or AutoStitch Panorama to merge video stills. Going to have to try that...
@Stephen I am using the iPhone 4. I am sure there are other ways of doing this but if time is money. Then $2.99 doesn't seem to bad if you get some cool effects. Your way sounds like a lot more work.
@ Darrin: No doubt it'd be more work. I'm just wondering if it'd produce similar results. I already picked up Magic Shutter and will be trying out both methods this weekend. =)
The SlowShutter app manages to save at full resolution so in theory at least so should this app. At it's current fairly low res however I think I'll give it a miss.
I watched the video twice and although it states it has exposure control all I could see was a focus control. @Darrin, if you do some night shots this weekend, could you post your impressions of the app? My gut tells me the app may produce noisy night photos. I'm up the air on this one. Thanks.
There is also an app called "Slow Shutter Cam" that supposedly does full-res long-time exposure of up to 30s on iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2. Has anyone tried that yet?
Apparently, there is a flickr pool for it: http://www.flickr.com/groups/slowshuttercam/pool/
And here is a review video done back in March: http://figitalrevolution.com/2010/03/30/review-slow-shutter-cam-for-iphone/
Wow. This app is mindblowing. Im an iPhone developer @iphoneographer (created the iQuikSplash and iHueSplash free photo app). Despite this giving low res (900pixels), I'd totally recognize this app's potential for daily usage. Im buying this definitely. Good work!!!
I am Magic Shutter's developer. We have heard everyone's suggestion. Next target will be upgraded to provide the highest-resolution-based. Photo resolution in the output can be easily adjusted to a very high resolution. But this is not really the image source and can not improve the picture quality. And will waste file space on iPhone. Therefore, we will start with the picture quality as first consideration rather than the image resolution. hope you understand our idea.
This app looks really good, btw the video was tajen in taipei, i libe here.... I woukd lobe id we can mete and you can give me some tips :-p
Oh man, I really do want to give this one a shot....but the grammar in the description alone made me grind my teeth so hard to the point that I don't even care what resolution this app puts out, my "creative" does not need this tool. After seeing what it can do I really think the vidpix/dxp combo might workout just fine.
From the Developer. And he just emailed me the update without any further request from me. I like that in a developer.
Good news is the next version will be rewritten during this week end. (over 1 megapixel)
But apple will close iTunes connect at new year. So, Upgrade can be downloaded in the early 2011.
I think mabye you want know this information.
Will it be available on Android Market, too? Nice thing I want to buy.
