PMA 2010: Photo2lab Client for iPhone, a hidden gem

Whilst wondering around PMA looking for some iPhone related stuff, I stumbled across an app called Photo2lab Client for iPhone from ECCE TERRAM Inc.  Whilst there was little information available on the app, and the provisioning file had expired so they could not give me a live demo, the CEO Frank Simon did take the time to explain what the app was all about, and with the aid of screenshots show me how it will work when released.

The app itself has two functions, the first, and least interesting to me, is the ability to create personalized post cards and have then sent anywhere in the world.  The second feature, and one that definitely grabbed my attention, was the ability to create up to a 25 page photobook right on the iPhone, and then submit it to their printing partner, who will print and ship the photobook to you.

As anyone in the photo industry will tell you, the next 12 months will see a rise in consumer demand for photobook's, and so we are likely to see a number of these apps appearing over the coming months in the AppStore, and it will be their speed and ease of use that will spell success for these app developers and their printers, but this is just my opinion, what do you think?

Right, the demand 4 Photobooks will be huge. At the moment, there is no convenient solution, except Apple's service included with iPhoto/Kodak. But this one is rather expensive. So who ever will come out with an easy to use and cheap solution, producing outstanding results, will be way ahead..

The Apple books are realy beautifull and well crafted as well. But 50€ for 20 Pages is steep..

@Peter. No pricing for the photobooks were mentioned, but I agree the prices have to be write and the quality good to succeed.

I agree on the rising demand for photobooks, or other similar way for people to not just give expression but concretize in a tangible way their artistic imagination. Those might be printed, or perhaps the iPad will serve as a wonderful showcase of such books! I agree with you, that part of the application comes with plenty of appeal.

Hopefully we will see multiple ways to accomplish this, and not just the traditional book format.

Best,

Nacho
