Glyn Evans About me: My name is Neil Landry, and I am a 39 year old Creative Director at an advertising agency in New Orleans. I've always been a creative person, starting at a very young age when I would paint, draw, sculpt... you name it. The visual world always had a big influence on me; I would relate to the visual arts in a very personal way, finding that it helped me express ideas much easier than speaking or writing. I was an extremely shy kid, so an easy way to relate to the world was through graphics and visual arts.
Upon entering college in 1990, I knew that I wanted to study graphic arts, but I was not exactly sure what I wanted to concentrate on. At first I thought the life of an architect would be thrilling, but I seemed to be drawn more strongly to photography. My Pentax K1000 was my constant companion, and I found the best part of photography to be not the shooting, but the time spent in the darkroom. I loved playing with alternative developing and printing techniques.
I studied fine art photography for the first part of my college years, but I also had an interest in graphic design so I switched concentrations and eventually graduated with a degree in Fine Arts. I am very grateful for having studied photography for the first half of college - I feel it gave me a great visual foundation for my later studies and subsequent career.
I now work at a large advertising agency and although design is a big part of my life, I am still fascinated by photography. While my Pentax hasn't seen the light of day in years, the iPhone has changed the way that I shoot. The fact that it is always with me and ready to use at a moment's notice is very liberating. The apps I use the most are TiltShift Generator, ShakeItPhoto and Photogene.
