Press Release: The EYE’EM Awards Exhibition 2010

We are very excited to finally announce the EYE’EM Awards Exhibition 2010. The event will be hosted in Berlin at the renowned Schlechtriem Brothers gallery. The winners will be announced on the 22nd of June 2010 and presented to the public until the 25th of June 2010. We have already received thousands of entries from countries like Japan, Russia, South Africa, Spain, USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Australia – just to name a few. In keeping with the spirit of mobile photography as a new art movement that is truly global, you will be able to follow the awards ceremony online from anywhere in the world on www.eyeem.com.

The Schlechtriem brothers—André and Felix —teamed up to open their original gallery space in the heart of Berlin Mitte. The older brother André already has gallery experience from his self-titled New York gallery, André Schlechtriem. The art historian is well known for putting together a collection of contemporary drawings together with Harvey S. Shipley Miller, sole trustee of the Judith Rothschild Foundation, that has been donated to the Museum of Modern Art. We are very proud to have them on board of the EYE’EM judging panel as well. Next to the brothers team, the international jury includes experts such as Sion Fullana, (Pioneer of the mobile photography movement from New York), Alexandra Niki, (American founder of Resource Magazine), Alex Rank (professional photographer from Berlin), Skorj (professional photographer from Tokyo), and Bassam Lahoud, (professor of architecture and photography at the Lebanese American University in Beirut and president of ‘ESCWA Arts Council “at the United Nations.)

The EYE’EM Award is calling for entries until the 10th of May 2010. Up to five shots per photographer can be submitted online on www.eyeem.com/award. Submission is free of charge. All entries must be taken with a mobile phone, but can be retouched with desktop or mobile applications. The award is open to all brands and devices.  Submissions are showcased throughout the award on the website.
