I can't wait to get my hands on this app, but until it is released, here is another set of sample photos.

WOW! Let's see just how smart this little guy ends up being....
If it's as smooth as it seems then I'm assuming they're going to add a premium price to it like Naked Touch

Ooh, check the output resolution *cringes*

June 9, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJennyland

heavy 640x480.
No option to adjust (i found none).
Disappointing, useless, no worth to process a picture. Will rate it 1 star in iTunes.

I won't rate it that low, but I won't give it more than 2 stars until they can improve the resolution. Yes it's speedy, yes it does a good job, but with such paltry output you can't do much with the image after it's been processed through their app.

I did it.
First because i will not waste time for "useless" results. i am not willing to test it out what the app really can do. I just deleted it and do not come back until a huge update.
Secondly because the developer is not honest enough to comunicate his resolution. as he writes here also he should have recognized that all the serious iphoneographers here want full resolution or at least to know which resolution is offered to decide if the app might match or not. He did not deliver and and withholded this important technical data.
Sorry but thats my personal opion.

@Tomba: Please do not misunderstand me, it is totally up to you what rating you give an app, as well as your reasons for doing so. However, to address some of the issues you brought up:

I don't know that honesty, per ce, has anything to do with stating output resolution size. Some developers just don't realize how important that is to serious iPhoneographers.

I don't believe that I've seen that particular developer write on this blog, although I'm willing to admit that I could have missed it. All I've seen relating to this app were articles written by Glyn.

Plus, there is a very good chance that an improved resolution will be offered, if the developer is in contact with this blog. Plastic Bullet offers similar resolution output, and their developer cited memory issues as the cause, but had determined they'd be able to resolve the issue with further updates.

I hope that you are able to rest at peace for having purchased an app you feel, at this time, isn't worthy. Let's just all keep our fingers crossed that this app, which does work very well at what it's supposed to do, will be released with an update to support higher resolution.

Take care,

Jennyland

@Jenny
as you wrote "at this time, isn't worthy".
The difference to Plastic Bullet is that the developer mentions 800x600 for v1.0 in his text and talks about future enhancements. So i know i have to wait till i buy and can use this app. Touchretoch does not. I am sure that Glens review will mention both points. And i am also sure that he would not have been so excited to get this app if he knew 640x480 maximum.
So may be this version is enough more the majority but the iphoneographers and readers of this blog should be warned that they will not get with v1.0 what they expect.
Are you sure that a higher resolution will come? I would be glad and rise my review points for sure.

This thread is tuning in to a good discussion, and I am just finishing of my mini review of this app, and have some news on the low-res issue, so stay tuned, the post should be live very soon.

Just contacted the developer and they said that they are working already to fix this issue that was ntot considered initally so we will have a new version soon...

TouchRetouch 1.0.1 for iPhone is already available at the AppStore.
The following features were added:
1. Pre-defined list of user-selectable resolutions including original image resolution;
2. Sending retouched images via e-mail.
After image is loaded, the App calculates its original size and allows to select from a list of few resolutions (Original, High (1600x1200), Medium (1024x768), Low (800x600)) to work with. The bigger is the image, the more choices of resolution available. Original resolution will be selected automatically for small images.
Your ideas and suggestions of how to improve TouchRetouch are highly appreciated.
