The iPhoneography Showcase of Andy Hutchinson

Glyn Evans About me: I'm a former journalist - born in the UK but now living in South Coast, New South Wales, Australia. I started out taking and developing photos myself from a young age, developing the black and white films myself in my parents bathroom with a towel over the window to keep the light out. The end results were often less than perfect and I guess that's the reason I love iPhoneography - particularly with apps like Hipstamatic.
I went the digital route myself a long time ago (I was a technology journalist so I had access to some of the earliest digital camera) but like many others (I suspect) I got too wrapped up in megapixels and lenses and the technology of photography and neglected the whole 'taking photos' side of things. So thanks to the iPhone I have a renewed interest in photography. I love taking photos in and around Bondi in Sydney (where I work) and at home in the countryside of south coast NSW. I particularly love street photography and enjoy the candid photos that are possible when you tote a device as inconspicuous as the iPhone.

There are some nice images here, but man, I absolutely despise the gallery widget. It does none of the photographers a service. The thumbnails are 2 pixels square which is absolutely useless....and of course it is Flash-based which means...well I think we all know what that means...this is an iPhoneography blog.
Is there a financial reason for using this particular widget? I see that its name contains the word "Ad" and that is rarely a good sign.
There are plenty of superior jQuery-based gallery widgets out there, for instance, that are user-friendly, have plenty of eye-candy for the young folks and work on all platforms. Sorry to vent, but, come on, he isn't wearing any clothes!! If you need any technical assistance with this, I'd be glad to help.
