App Review: myFilm

If you could combine a tilt shift app with a toy camera app, myFilm would be the result. This app has a nice interface: the UI is easy to navigate and understand, and it has several solid options for customizing your images. The results of the effects are nice, not over done and the processing time is decent.
myFilm allows the user to control brightness, contrast, vignette, and blur. These are very easy to adjust, a simple + or - to indicate strength desired or the option for off, low, and high. Further, you can distinguish what type of blur you'd like applied: soft focus, radial or linear. The first drawback that catches my attention is that the user can only adjust where the preset blur filter can go on the screen, but you can't adjust size, shape or rotation. If you have used Iron Camera, the blur setting for myFilm is similar.
myFilm also has several different cross processing effect such as normal, shuffle, black & white, chic, sepia, orange, green, yellow, blue, and ice. My current favorite is chic. At this time you cannot stack the filter effects, you'd have to save the current image then open the saved image as a new image to apply any further filter processing to it. That is not a big deal to me, but it is worth mentioning.
The final product can be saved to the Camera Roll, emailed, or uploaded to Twitter. The app also offers the option to auto save the image, so that each time a new photo is developed, it will automatically be saved to the iPhone's camera roll.
myFilm also offers several different options for the final resolution output, from 427 pixels up to 1200 pixels. There are a few other settings that the app will let you customize, such as opening the app to the camera/image from your photo library or opening the app to the settings screen (an option similar to what Hipstamatic offers), turning camera mode off or on, and turning the auto save function off or on.
Overall, I like this as a tilt shift/toy camera combo application. I have a lot of fun using it, and at $0.99 I think this app is a real bargain. Improved resolution and increased options with the blur settings would be awesome, but as the app stands Iím happy. If you already own a tilt-shift simulator app or a toy camera/cross processing app, then itís up to your discretion on whether or not youíd like to give this app a shot. I have tried and used several of both, but since Iíve had myFilm in my iPhoneography arsenal, I've used it more often than the alternatives. The multipurpose-in-one feature of this app usually wins me. I'd rate myFilm at a solid four stars.

Another one added to my phone :)
Thanks for the review Jenny
@Darren Stephens: Thanks!
Pity the blur radius can't be controlled better, seems like a neat app! So far, of all the tiltshift apps, the only one that I've seen lets you control overall coverage/shape of the blur is idof. Now that they've updated their app to full-res support I've found myself using that as my regular for this kind of stuff. Tiltshift generator is still a close second.
@Jennyland - Jenny, Jenny, Jenny. You do know you made me go out and buy another photo app, right? I needed one like I need another cat. LOL. But having said that, I don't regret getting it, the app is definitely easy to use and I paired with PictureShow to create a nice photo of one of my 3 cats that shows her off to good effect. So, thank you for the push to buy it, I think I'll be having fun with this one.
@Leon: I concur, it's a limitation to the app. When I want more control over the blur, I use TiltShiftGen, too :)
@Tania: Oh noes :D Well, for what it's worth, I'm glad you enjoyed your purchase! myFilm has become one of my most frequent "go to" apps now!
