At the time of writing this post, Tomba is reporting that Hipstamatic and SwankoLab have some issues with iOS 4, so if you are a heavy user of these apps, then you may want to wait until these apps are updated before upgrading to iOS 4.

If you know of any apps not listed above that work or don't work with iOS 4, then post them in the comments section and I will update this list.

Aw, sad to hear that Hipsta and Swanko are a bit buggy! Hopefully updates are to follow :). Glad to see that most apps are doing fine!

What's the deal with LOFI??? I didn't see it on the list.

June 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCliff

@Cliff. This is just the beginning of what I expect to be a long list of working apps. I haven't upgraded yet, as I am about to fly out of the UK and don't want to take any chances, so wont be updating my iPhone 3G until I return.

Format126 works, so I would expect LOFI to work, but if it doesn't, then don't bank on any update or support from the developer, as he has stopped supporting me and Format126 :(

I've tested all Phix apps, except the current iPhix and they seem to be doing fine. So you can add MonoPhix, FlashPhix (+lite versions) and GrayPhix to the list as well.

Only experienced a decreased performance on iPhone 3G at first run, but that's probably because of the hardware+iOS4 combo.

Camera Plus Pro and PS Mobile also work

@ Glyn, Oh no! That is so sad to hear :(.

Downloading the update as I blog right now....

Any news about PanoLab and the other panoramic apps?

June 21, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterairmanchairman

@Glyn: Say it ain't so!!!!!!!!!
I use LOFI consistently. I mean CONSISTENTLY. I hope the app doesn't crap out with the new update. That would suck big time for the type of pics I like to take.

Any word on Darkroom Pro?

You can add LOFI to the list. It's working fine for me on my 3GS. So is Pano. Have just upgrade so slowly but surely figuring out what is worrking and what isn't.

@Cliff. LOFI is now confirmed as working :)

June 21, 2010 | Registered CommenterGlyn Evans

Thanks guys for the 411 on LOFI. That is good news for me!!

:)
I hope swakolab gets it together because I love mixin' up the medicine in the lab.

June 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCliff

For me swankolab was utterly slow, but not really incompatible, so I think it'll be a performance issue.

Anyone tested it on 3Gs or 4? For me the black & white mix took about 4 minutes to develop.

June 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterRenzo Verleysen

I've updated to iOS 4 successfully and I'm VERY happy with the update. Everything runs quicker and smoother. I haven't tested all of my apps yet, but what I have noticed with Swankolab and Hipstamatic is an odd blue tone in B&W images, but other than that they work fine, and noticeably faster.

ARGGGHHH!!!! Actually, LoFi is buggy on OS 4.0, at least for the 99% usecase for me, templates. Is there another developer out there that can pick up the ball on this app? Add the capability to comp non-filtered apps as well as the current features and I would easily pay out the wazoo for this app. Not sure what that equals in dollars, but it sure sounds like a lot ;-).

THe Camera apps from miss kiwi ClassicPan, Classic, SAMP and so on are all working perfect. SAme for Autostich and Joy Camera.

Seems like a great update.

Compatibility is one thing. But the real issue is how soon existing photo apps will be upgraded to take advantage of the iPhone 4's higher resolution. Until that happens (and if past experience is anything to go by, it will take a while), using the old apps on the new phone will be frustrating in the extreme.

June 22, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDonald Jenkins

Well, the update has begun for me and now I'm waiting patiently to find out how this is going to work out. Ugh, iTunes says it's going to take 7 hours. I hope that's just a way off estimate, or else I'm not going to have my main alarm clock in the morning.

June 22, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTania

ClearCam works. They just added an enhanced mode which doubles the resolution. Seems pretty cool!

@Glyn
Me Tomba is still a he ;-) Please be aware that i had autostich already on my list (no 17) and now its twice with nr. 39.

For those (including me) who had some hope that with final release of iOS4 the problem with Hipstamatic and Swankolab may be solved i have to say: No, its still the same as with the GM release. Thats means the app is running and working similar than with 3.1.3 but with B&W settings like Blackkeys Super Grain you get a black white and blue image. Color settings may work all like before but i didnt use them regularly so i cannot compare.

@Jon Betts
LOFI is running well on my 3GS including Templates!

@all
With final release you can shoot with standard camera app like hell. You can shoot pushing the small release button as fast as you can push with your fingers. Anytime. Very good improvement. Fast saving. Hopefully app developers have a new api to use that fast shooting and saving too.
BUT be careful. Now it releases even the autofocus is not finished! Like release priority of SLR cameras. In 3.1.3 it was more a focus priority setting. i prefer the new setting but may a possibilty to choose in a future update would be better for all users.

Finally i can say. I am happy that i upgraded.
