ClearCam gets much needed update, but iOS 4 ONLY!!

When ClearCam was released it was missing the one key factor that made this one of the early must have apps on a jailbroken iPhone.

Good news, Occipital, LLC, the developer of ClearCam has just released an update that now includes that missing element (increased resolution), however the bad news is it is now only iOS 4 compatible, leaving those still on OS 3.x out in the cold.

New features:

  • Enhanced mode - more than doubles the megapixel output by capturing 6 images in rapid succession. Doubles the resolution of every model iPhone camera!
  • Quick capture mode analyzes images faster using new features from iOS4

Thanks Glyn - We appreciate you making people aware of this. The last thing we want is people running ClearCam on pre 4.0 OSs and being disappointed! ClearCam's existence (at least the latest version) really depends on the advanced features of iOS4. It's just not that interesting otherwise. We are leveraging the new APIs to access to raw image information which makes all the difference for us.

Thanks for your blog. Keep up the good work!

I just purchased this today for my iPhone 4, and the "enhanced" mode doesnt work correctly. Every image has purple and green vertical lines/bars. It needs a serious update for the iPhone 4. There is another person who gave a similar review if you check below my review on June 24, 2010.

Hi Stefanos - A little late, but just noticed your post here! As you know, we got the iPhone 4 issue fixed as soon as we had hardware to test on. Saw your updated review, thanks! I hope you are enjoying the app. Look for a touch to focus feature in the next release (next week).

Thanks!
Josh
