Description from the AppStore: Diptic lets you quickly and easily combine two or three of your photos to create a new image.
The resulting photograph is called a diptych (if it is made up of two images) or a triptych (if it is made up of three images). Diptychs and triptychs have been used for many years in art photography. Now, with the Diptic app, you too can quickly and easily create diptychs and triptychs.
Diptic allows users to tell a story with photo combinations. With Diptic you can quickly and easily create a before-and-after sequence, produce a photographic series, or juxtapose contrasting images.

Features:
- Use photos that you just took, or any photos in your camera roll
- Brightness, contrast and color saturation controls for each image
- A choice of five different layouts
- The ability to pan, rotate, mirror and zoom individual photos
- A simple and intuitive interface
- Export to email or camera roll
- Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
AppStore Link: Diptic - Price: £1.19/$1.99

UPDATE: Both the iPhone and iPad version will only save at 1024 x 1024, which is a little disappointing. I have advise the developer needs to update the app to support full-res as soon as possible, but we'll have to wait and see if this happens.

Love the concept, any word on the output resolution?
I think my apps of choice for "diptics" is still Strip Designer & Photo Desk. To be fair, I haven't tried Diptic yet. $1.99 for 5 frames at non-full resolution just doesn't compare to all that my alternatives offer. SCW, any input?
Well.... I love this app! It's not full res ... BUT it has tons of potential, pretty great app for the developers first released app. The developer is easily approachable & is responsive to suggestions & ideas to improve upon. Being it is $1.99 you get 2 apps in 1 (it is a universal app) thus it works on your iPhone & ipad. It is easy to use, looks slick, a handful of templates in v1.0, ability to move, rotate, mirror image per slot, enhancement effects selectable per image, plus you can change the color of the frame white, black or alter the RBG sliders & even adjust the width of the frame from no frame to a bold thick version.. So yes since I personally want full resolution output (which was the first thing I asked the developers to improve) The rest of the user friendly features & functions make this a great app!
REQ:
- Add more templates, square, portrait & landscape results (not just a square collage as it is now), & full resolution output or better.
As for other apps... I am a Huge fan of Photo Desk (which isn't perfect but damn good & simple), Strip Designer is really nicely done & oh Montager I personally think is horrible & will never use again.

@SCW: The universality of the app only benefits those that have multiple Apple products on which to use them, hee ;) For the rest of us, that really can't be considered an asset to the app.
I like hearing about the border options, I was curious about that after viewing their screen shot.
Also, I agree about the developer being easy to contact/connect with. I twittered the developer a link to a digital scrapbooking site that has MANY different variations on story board layouts for digital image use (http://www.mcpactions.com/blog/2008/04/07/introducing-mcp-actions-new-tell-a-storyboard-action-sets/). I hope they don't underestimate the need for more templates and for full resolution output.
After reading your input, I am more inclined to give this app a shot, thanks!
Hopefully this app could fix my biggest issue with Strip Designer, in that if you split an image into three equal slices, they're not always the exact same length as eachother. Perhaps i'm being picky but that's quite important to me.
For example... (excuses the poor quality, Strip Designer doesn't like iPod Touch devices apparently!)

Notice the third frame, despite the child's right ears being in the same place in relation to the frame there's still more space on the right of the frame.
By the way, short time reader, first time poster, brilliant website. I'm still experimenting with photography apps on my iPod Touch until i have an actual iPhone, but i've discovered some fantastic apps through this site. Keep it up :)
@Stu: Welcome! I hadn't noticed that inconsistency w/Strip Designer before, interesting catch (& great shot)! My chief issues w/Strip Designer is that the drop shadow/border lining aren't precise & the gaps are visible when viewed in the original (high resolution) size. Also, the borders can be a bit thick for the concept as I see it in my mind. That being said, I think everything else about Strip Designer is AWESOME :D I am curious about Diptic, enough to buy&try.
Thank you for the compliment!
I think Strip Designer's "issue" is that i'm not sure if the developers intended it for the more "arty" crowd, where as Diptic obviously is.
I haven't purchased it yet, whilst i'm working with low-res images through my iPod i don't think it would be necessary. When i upgrade my hardware though, with more frame options in a future update i can imagine it being a necessity.
Have purchased the app, can see it getting some use!

Just a quick example using some photos i took yesterday.
I was reluctant to buy this one, since it doesn't offer full resolution output, but I decided to try it after all. I was pleasantly surprised. With full res output I wouldn't hesitate to rate it 5 stars. Hopefully, there will be an update soon.
I also bought PhotoDesk to compare the two, and personally I think Diptic is much better. I've also learned that there will be no PhotoDesk updates. "Project failed", according to the developer.
@Jarle: I haven't used Photodesk in ages. The low-res forced me to scrap it. The developer should have stuck with it because it could have turned out so much better.
