Sounds similar to the app in this video...

Would be nice if the photo could be received quicker. That, or if the photo could be saved onto the iPhone rather than sent to the iPad. Can imagine it being fantastic for remote photography if it overcame either of those.

If the photo was saved on your iPhone, you wouldn't really need this app, would you? And it wouldn't really be "a camera for the iPad"?

Photo Transfer App is a great app for copying full res photos to and from your iPhone, btw. Works with iPad, too. Highly recommended (just a happy user).

I'm talking about a different purpose. I don't care whether the iPad has a camera or not. But for remote photography (as i mentioned) it'd be a lot quicker if they weren't saved to the iPad and you were allowed to keep shooting.

The idea of setting up the IPhone some yards away from me with an iPad ready to take photos is a great prospect for something like wildlife photography.

Ok, I see. My mistake. You want to use the iPad as a remote controller.

A completely different setup, obviously, but you may find this interesting:

how is this app "finally a camera" or better than CamerA/B, Wireless Camera or Camera for iPad? All have been available for some time. Wireless Cam and Cam for iPad work pretty well.
