iPad App Review: ColorSplash for iPad

Eddie Garou ColorSplash for iPad by Pocet Pixels is the port of the popular iPhone app ColorSplash. For those of you not already aware of what ColorSplash is, it's basically a spot color application that lets you take a color photo, turn it black and white, and then allows you to bring the color back to portions of the photo.
Of all the spot color apps that were available for the iPhone, ColorSplash was always my favorite, and the iPad version is no different. It has a relatively intuitive interface, and I found it to be very very responsive. There seemed to be no lag when recoloring areas, which is something I find very annoying in other programs. Also, it retains the original size of photos, which is another good thing about this program. An additional program feature that I really like is the ability to view the areas that you are bringing color back into as red. This can be very helpful when you're trying to bring color back into a picture with very subtle shades and you can't quite tell whether you've brought all the color back or not. By selecting the red button along the top bar of the program, you can easily see all the areas that you're bringing color back into.
Of course, you can also change brush sizes and brush softness, you can undo errors, or display the brush tip as you're painting (which can help reduce drawing errors). You can also save the session that you're working on, or save the photo to the photo album, email it or send it to Facebook. And if you're really unsure as to how to use the program, there's a tutorial video that you can play that will show you everything you need to do.
The only real downside that exists is that you have to purchase the iPad app separately from the iPhone app. Outside of that, it's a really great app that I totally recommend if you like to do spot color photos.
