iPhone 4 "Like a beautiful old Leica camera"

Today Steve Jobs graced the stage of this years WWDC in San Francisco to reveal what none of us had seen before (cough, cough), the iPhone 4.

This is a stunning looking phone packed full of some stunning features, and for once us iPhoneographers have been well catered for, and even Steve himself refereed to this new iPhone as "Like a beautiful old Leica camera".

So as iPhoneographers what can we look forward to?

Well the new iPhone 4 will pack a 5-megapixel still camera with backside illuminated sensor, tap to focus for both video and still images, photo and video geotagging, an LED flash for those party photos and for the videographers amongst us, HD (720p) video recording at up to 30 frames per second with audio.

With all these new features, and the powerful A4 processor, this really is the dawn of a new era in photography, and one that the iPhoneography blog is looking forward to.

I for one will be getting the new iPhone 4 as soon as possible, but what about the rest of you?

I will be waiting. I still have a useable iPhone 3Gs.

Hope its better as a phone than the 3gS. My old 2G was fine, but the current model is lousy for signal. Plus we'll also end up paying three times more than American customers.Rolll on 24th June

Can't wait! Been waiting awhile with my 2g phone. I think this is an incredible design. I was hoping for a beautiful case design like this, I like my 2g case...and this tops that. That alone is enough for me...but look at all the rest of the cool features.

I'll be pre ordering mine on the 15th! I for one can't wait! This is going to take iPhoneography (and possibly iVideography?) in a new direction!

Just got a 3gs two months ago so I won't be upgrading anytime soon. The camera features look good but I'm still really digging the lofi 3mp look of my current phone.

I'll be waiting until October, when my current contract with AT&T expires, but I'm seriously considering upgrading to the 4G when I do my renewal. It's looking rather tempting right now.

I'm all over it!

I am going to get one this fall most likely, but I will try not use the flash only if I have to. Using my 3g has taught me to utilize the light given to me. This has allowed me to create some great photos. Especially with a black background creating negative space. What are are everyone's feelings about the addition of the flash in regards to pushing creativity????

makes me wonder if the soon to be announced new iPad will make me wish I had waited

I'm all for getting this. I just have to convince the wife to support my "needs". I LOVE the new camera. HD video? As an ivideographer I can't wait for this and iMovie. We'll see how it stacks up against ReelDirector.

I'll get one asap

Cliff: I kind of like the idea of the flash thing...but I suspect what I want to do wont work...I'm hoping that I'll be able to use the on phone flash to trigger some off camera flash......anway...it'll be a work in progress.

Shoot, I just found out I have to wait til February to upgrade. I was off on the expiry date of my contract. Sigh.

Well, on the bright side, they should have most of the bugs worked out by the time I get around to getting my 4G. In the meantime, I keep using my trusty 3G and start saving up now so it doesn't pinch when it comes time to pay the piper.

I'm preordering it on the 15th! Can't wait!!

Won't be able to afford one until I'm working again. I bought mine outright (no plan) so it cost me $900. Can't afford that again.

o2 have just changed the tarrifs again. I was on a £35 contract for 2 years, with unlimited data.
Now they are only allowing 500mb of data a month!

So much for "Smartphones".. Ok, I probably don't use that much, but its nice not to even have to think about it..

I'd quit 02 in a flash if i could, but my contract expires on Dec 2011!!

I thought the WHOLE IDEA of an iPhone tarrif was unlimited data, no restrictions??

sods!
