I didn't need another photoapp but was tempted & bought this one. Is good with editing from your library but when I take a picture it squishes the image and looks weird & stupid. :-(

(I have a 3G)

I bought and tested this app on a serious of images I usually test new photo apps with and I'd say this app is now my #1 post-processing workflow app! It's streamlined the workflow from having to use several apps (thus polluting my Photo library with various versions of an image) and instead, I now just have to go into this single app. At $.99, with every penny and more!!!

What impresses me most is the level of control in the various functions of this app AND the responsiveness of the sliders and realtime results. I spend my days retouching photography and almost everything I use in my workflow in Photoshop is available in this app (to a degree).

One thing I did note — the resulting image balloons in file size — an original image taken on a 3GS clocked in a little over 1MB and the resulting image after working it in this app, clocked in at 4MB. Not really a big deal unless you're emailing (and even then, with iOS 4, you can have the email program resample the image to a smaller size for emailing).

The other thing I experienced was when bring in portrait oriented shots — they'd show up as "squished" to a horizontal format — it doesn't happen to all images though, it seems random? I figured out a workaround to correct this though — apply a filter, then undo. It'll bring the image back to the correct proportion, though the image is now marked as being horizontal — you can quickly correct this with a 90 degree rotation. Not ideal, but something I'm sure will be fixed in the next update.

All-in-all, an amazing app — especially for a v1 release!

Regards,
Kristin.

I got this the moment it was released & tested it as usual... It has lots of potential but is far from being great or ever a go-to app. It has froze on me a number of times during processing & other numerous tasks. There is only a few filter effects that are interesting... Majority of the filter effects are complete rip-offs of Tiffen's Photo fx. Honestly the entire app is a carbon copy imitation of Photo fx... which is truly far superior in ever way. I only recommend this to anyone who doesn't have Photo fx & or wants to spend extra money they don't need to. Until Iris Photo suite fixes some bugs & actually develops some unique filter effects that aren't copies of other apps.... I'd wait to see what other updates bring before buying this app!

Well, I have to admit, I didn't play around with the FX/Filters that much as that's not what I was looking for — an yes, compared to Photo FX in that respect, Tiffen's app is far superior. But, if you're looking for an actual workflow app for sharpening, colour balance, individual colour channel adjustments, shadow & highlight recovery, histogram correction and other digital imaging adjustments, and you want fine-tuned manual control over these things, Photo FX doesn't even come close to Iris.

That's just my unbiased opinion, from a retouching and digital imaging/correction point of view.

FYI — I've already been in contact with the developer regarding the image rotation bug and working with them on a fix for a future update.

Like the app so far, few bugs and crashes though... I assume Kristin has brought that up to them?

Someone needs to email them and tell them to change the name of the app so it displays better on the iPhone. I can't stand when developers don't do that, it looks horrible!

Not experienced any crashes on the Iphone 4 yet. It does scrunch the image down as reported above

Hey guys dint u noticed that filter fx is only dedicatd to filters not image editing so the comparison is not apt.. And iris is providing one of the best editing options which are not present in other apps..the histogram auto wb and midtones shadows features are real good..

Comparing the app with Tiffen Photo Fx, is not right. Photo Fx offers no manual adjustments over the images! and also compare the difference in the cost.
I own an iPod Touch 2G, and the Photo Fx works so slow on my device, so do most of the other photo apps.
I hight rate this app for the fluid controls and the interface it is able to provide!
