App Update: Camera+ version 1.2 now live in the AppStore
Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 10:39PM |
Glyn Evans Camera+ that we sneak previewed earlier this week has just gone live in the AppStore with the following new features:
- [Camera+ exclusive] Touch Exposure: set exposure separately from focus for the ultimate control of your shots (touch with a second finger to control exposure)
- [Camera+ exclusive] Touch Focus: better than tap to focus because you can continuously drag the focus box around until your shots are in perfect focus
- [Camera+ exclusive] Photo Flashlight: use the iPhone 4 LED flash as a continuous fill light to improve photo quality, especially for portrait and macro shots
- speed of photo taking is now lightning fast
- the high quality zoom control now works on iOS 4
- stabilizer improvements
- detailed metadata is now uploaded to photos shared on Flickr
- fixed a bug where the camera shutter button would stop functioning
- fixed a bug where photos wouldn't display in the Lightbox on an iPad when in 2× magnification mode #weird
- various minor bug fixes and enhancements

All my Problems are fixed now. It replaces Procamera now where the Problems running on iOS4 are still open.
With v1.2 i can recommend Camera+.
Love the new update. The dynamic exposure and touch to focus are great.
This update is *awesome*. I knew I'd like it (the update), but I didn't know they'd release it so quickly!
I'm guessing that the Touch Exposure and Touch Focus only work with 3GS or higher? I'd be thrilled if it worked with my 3G, but I'm not expecting it, Even so, the update seems pretty solid.
what about the 'volume buttons as shutter' ? it sounded like one of the coolest new features, one i've been waiting for a loooong time, and it seems to have been dropped without a word.
Is there a self timer in this app? Also it says it preserves metadata for flickr but does it keep gps data in the pictures store
On the camera roll?
Looks like that touch/exposure focus doesn't actually work on anything below ios 4. I'm on a 3gs using 3.1.2 and it's just not there after the update. :( Sad.
I am being really dim here: how does the touch exposure work? Do I have to move the 2nd finger in a particular way?
@psikat
first finger moves the tap to fokus and second finger moves the tap to exposure. you see the result online.
@Tomba: thanks!
I think a 'big button' option would be handy.
For those that don't know about it, Camera+ & taptaptap have a blog. In their latest post, they address some of the issues you all have presented here (volume buttons as shutter, metadata/GPS information, how to utilize touch exposure & touch focus, etc.)
Here's the link to their most recent post:

p.s. @Monkeygeek: No self timer is available in Camera+.
@psikat: I agree, but unless I'm doing self portraits, I've been fine without that functionality in this app. Now that they've integrated touch exposure and touch focus, doing a big button function may be too .. challenging? Too many on screen gestures for the app to differentiate? I'd also like to see them add some basic adjustments, like straighten, brightness/contrast, etc. However, I am loving the Iris Suite for those functionalities!
Shitty sales tactics aside, this v1.2 update is outstanding.
I'll be using this app more for sure.
Agree with Josh.
I hate TapTapTap's unethical PR and business moves, but this new update is very nice.
Does anyone see this with Camera+ ?
At the main screen there is a button on the right side, I remember pushing it before and it would take a picture, now it does not and or sometimes just closes the viewfinder window. The red light on the left side used to change to green when pushed also.
The new version does not work, anyone see this also?
Thanks.
