Glyn Evans If you want to know when and where the sun will rise or set, or the phases of the moon, then these 3 apps from developer Sivaprasad Radhakrishnan Lakshmi will come in handy, and for a limited time, all 3 of these apps are FREE.

Sunlight Tracker
Sunlight Tracker is a must have tool for any outdoor photographer interested in knowing the best times to shoot their subjects outdoors. Whether you are a landscape photographer or wedding photographer or a nature photographer, use this to find out Sun's elevation and direction over any outdoor subject at any time of day. Moonrise
Often photographers and amateur astronomers like to know when a full moon occurs or when a particular phase of the moon occurs in their location. Landscape photographers especially like to take advantage of full moons and use the reflection they cast on lakes and ponds when composing their shots.
Moon cycle also has a big influence on the tides we have on earth and some even believe moon cycle also give an hint on when is a good time to go fishing. Whatever the reason may be, if you are interested in Moon, this app has something to offer.

No sure if its meant to work this way, but is it meant to find your current location, like Compass does?? because if it does, it doesn't. Also takes forever to load the map
Sunlight Tracker looks great, but is not available in the UK's iTunes store. I've no idea why and would love to Email the author of the application to ask, but how do I find that out?
@Jon, I'm not sure what's going on here, but the developer, his apps and website seem to have disappeared. I will see what I can find out and report back.
@Glyn - when you report back, please make it a new blog entry. I just noticed yesterday that I can no longer get MoonRise when I tried to put it on my wife's iphone. I'm glad I got the apps when you first reported on them here. I wonder if they violated some of Apple's rules? (On the other hand, hopefully not, was any malware involved? - i.e., do I need to cleanse my phone ASAP?)
Beware, the Sunlight Tracker app got removed from my iPhone during a sync with iTunes, without any kind of prompt or warning message. It just wasn't there after syncing, and I have no way of getting it back as far as I can tell … am very disappointed (especially as I paid money for it!) - had got in the habit of using it a lot!
Anyone who relies on this app (or needs it to plan a shoot in the near future) better avoid syncing with iTunes until this issue is resolved, or an alternative app is available...
Any more word on this Glyn? Was really excited to get this app. Even the blog is gone!
@Will. I have no idea what has happened to these apps. All my emails to this developer are going unanswered (not bounced) and as you have discovered the website has gone as well.
I have Sunlight Tracker still on my phone and it works. I sync every day and its not removed from my phone or account.
