image1175407552.jpgHipstamatic 160 has just hit the AppStore, with some new features, iOS 4 improvements and bug fixes, with the most noticeable fix being the blue streak bug which affected the black and white films.

So what's new, what's improved and what's fixed?

OPTIMIZATIONS:

- User Interface optimized for iPhone 4's Retina Display
- Supports full resolution prints on iPhone 4 (in High Quality mode)
- Faster startup time and fast app switching (iOS 4 only)
- Faster flipping from camera front to back (iOS 4 only)
- Prints will continue to process in the background when you quit Hipstamatic (iOS 4 only)

BUG FIXES:

This is all fine & dandy BUT... Hipstamatic is over rated & stale! I am not saying I don't like it for I do BUT ... You can do all that & more with PictureShow & it's full res, portrait, landscape & square images & you can post process, unlike Hipsta! Ohhh & NO in-app purchase packs to waste you hard earned money on! =)

Gee who stole the jam out of your donut? Personally I've yet to see prints created with such a good effect as HM.

Yay! Been waiting for ages for this, don't like living without my fave photo app :)

I had an idea for a Hipstamatic upgrade that I thought I would run by you. My friend (who shoots film) participates in a film swap programme. She takes 36 pics and send the roll off to someone else who, without seeing the original pics, then shoots 36 more exposures over the top: http://microsites.lomography.com/holga/galleries/multiple-exposure

What would be the possibility of Hipstamatic replicating that? Take the last 36 Hipstamatic shots, bundle them up together and swap them with someone else (maybe on the facebook group or through the app, don't know how the science bit works!). Then the app takes the same 36 shots and shoots more over the top. Whaddya think?

Not too big of a fan of syncing the iPhone's flash hardware with the flash filters within the app. I feel this removes the purpose of the flashes as a filter and instead tries to make them more relevant...except in a convoluted way. Syncing the flash to the filters will just result in a more limited use of Hipsta's flashes as that added light will really over expose photos in a majority of cases.

I completely agree with what Miki said. I hate it as well.

Voice your opinion on their Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/hipstamatic // or just search Hipstamatic if that URL doesn't work) and on their Get Satisfaction site, a thread about this is already going here: http://bit.ly/9i7ULL

Great update to a really great app. But there's still plenty more they could improve, mostly related to user interface. It's awesome to be able to re-create analog effects, it's not awesome to have arbitrary limitations like flipping from front to back of camera and not being able to post-process.

I agree with the other two regarding the flash change. They just nullified the purpose of having the flash effects by overexposing everything which washes out any color/effect added by the faux flash. They've got to add a setting to separate the real flash from the toy one
