New iPad App: HP PhotoBook Lite

If you want to create photo books to carry around on your iPad or share with friends and family via email, then check out this free app from HP Labs

App Store Description: HP Labs has developed a unique new photo book creation tool for the iPad. Our template-free layout algorithm automatically arranges any number and shape of photos on each page and enables easy, drag-and-drop editing of the photo book.

Key features:

  • Compose professional-looking photo books with beautiful photos.
  • Use the unique “Shuffle” capability to view alternative layouts for a page.
  • Add text captions to the book and change its position on the page - the layout automatically adjusts to make space for the text.
  • Add, delete, and swap photos on a page – the layout adjusts automatically.
  • Crop the photos - the layout automatically accommodates the changes.
  • Professionally designed background themes and book covers.
  • Preview your book on the iPad as naturally as reading real books.
  • Save books in the PDF format so that you can share them via emails easily.
  • You can do all of these using simple touch gestures – anyone can do it!

As a few other reviews said I could not figure out ( at least not yet) how to add my own photos there. Any ideas? Great idea though!

As a person who likes to put together photobooks I will give this a whirl, see what gives. I imagine a paid version might have templates from which to choose, capability of creating your own layouts, ability to export in different formats, post online to sites... at least that's what I would like to see... hmmmm, very neat possibilities.

Best,

N
