  • Save your masterpiece to your album
  • Portrait or landscape orientation
  • Pan&Zoom to great details
  • Blur, black and white, and motion streak today!

As a bonus, you also get the ability to convert your chosen area to black and white or motion streak.

iOS 4 ONLY

App Store Link: Blurred; Price: £0.59/$0.99/€0.79

Editors comments:
"Blurred is a nice easy to use app that has a similar interface and functions just like ColorSplash."

The App

To use the app, simply launch it, select the folder icon found across the top of the screen and either take or load a photo from the photo album.  Having loaded your photo select the brush size from the icons across the top of the screen, pan/zoom and position your subject and then select the "Tag" tool to paint the area/areas you want to remain in focus, panning and zooming as you go.  Paint all the areas (which will be coloured red) that you want to remain in focus, using the erase or undo tools to correct any mistakes you make.  When done, select the effect icon and choose from either Blur, Motion Streak or Black and White effect and apply to the photo, or even mix or multiply the effects one after/on top of the other.  When complete just hit the floppy disk icon and save.

What do I think about Blurred?

This is a simple, easy to use app that can add a blur, motion streak or splash of colour to your iPhone photos, and save at full-res (even on the iPhone 4), and in my opinion, whilst not as feature rich as BlurFX, it is much easier to use, and so gets 4 stars from me.

Thanks for the review, Glyn. I was curious about this one and how it stacks up to BlurFX.

I didn't like the mother-in-law comment in the App Store description. What if I *like* my mother-in-law? I don't, but what if I did? I might find that comment offensive....

@ =M= agreed. I removed that line, after all I don't want my mother-in-law reading that line either ;)

I purchased Blurred this morning, have used it 3 times & it has crashed every time while in the middle of paint? What am i doing wrong (if anything) i'm getting annoyed buying these apps only to find they don't work.

@Mo, which iPhone are you using? as I tested this on an iPhone 4

I like this app for making a faux depth of field effect on portraits. I just wish there was a bit finer control over the tagging area. In other apps sometimes the cursor stays the same size while you zoom, whereas in this app the cursor zooms with the photo (if that makes any sense). Otherwise it's a great app!

I'm a real novice with photography but i enjoy it :-)
