App Update: ProCamera

NEW & EXCLUSIVE: Easy Expert Mode for full control for iPhone 4 + 3GS

ProCamera has just received a major update adding Expert Mode which contains features only previously seen in Camera+, like independent focus and exposure control as well a white balance lock.

Activate the Expert Mode and you will be able to set focus and exposure separately for creating perfect photos and videos. Drag the exposure box to a darker area to light up the photo/video, then drag the focus box to the desired spot. As easy as it could be.

Use the White Balance button to lock the current colour temperature to match the ambient light situation - get exceptionally good photos and the smoothest videos you've ever taken with your iPhone.

  • available for photo shooting and video recording
  • choose between easy mode and expert mode within settings

Performance boost: shoot more photos in quick succession (in full size & resolution)

Focus & Exposure rectangles now showing camera activity by pulsating

Minor bug fixes

Can you tell me if it stores EXIf data such as GPS coordinates, camera type, exposure etc?

Of course a photo app junky ;) I had to download this app to see if it was better than Camera+ on Exposure and Focus in separate mode.
Disappointed in it's wierd and not user friendly interface. I don't like that it has trigger for taking photos on all of the screeen and the way the focus and Exposure works as separate is not good either.

Well I'll keep it tucked away with other maybe apps but I wouldn't recommend it right now. It's a great thought but for now I'll stick with my Camera+ .

and i missed in camera+ the "big button" and direct saving in cameraroll.
I bought camera+ because ProCamera didnt release a iOS4 Update fast enough. I like it (since v1.2) but really missed the two mentioned function.
Now i am back to ProCamera v2.9 as my day to day shooting app. I like the UI without any gimmicks and the camera direct as the start screen of the app. Separate tap for focus and exposure is implemented to work with only one finger. Useful in tricky lightning situations. But most of the time i simply take a few shots with different exposure and select the best later on the mac or use ProHDR on iPhone.
After the planned(?) mistreating of Apples policies camera+ is out of store. Following the developers blog they made their money within two month. Not one comment since weeks on their blog. Camera+ seems to be a dead app now. I spent 2,39 Euro just to wait for a iOS4 working ProCamera update.
80% i use ProCamera or shooting. For the rest i take Vint B&W or Clear Cam.

PS: I rarely use the post processing of ProCamera or Camera+. For me Shooting and Processing a two separate steps. Thats why i never look for a complete all in one app.

As i now EVERY app is losing EXIF as soon as they save into camera roll. Its a matter of apple to set this function free.

The only workaround is to upload before saving to flickr or another service (NOT a function in ProCamera, so the answer for you is NO) and to download from their to your PC.

Thats too complicated for me so i accepted to have that data not.

$3.99 in the Australian app store.

Is the basic version a good guide to the paid version? I usually don't like spending more than $2 on an unknown (to me) app!

@Jen
Forget the basic. No tap to focus and no inapp upgrade. UI is the same. On promos basic is free (give it a try) and full version 1.99 $.

I guess it's a matter of opinion. I defiantly agree with you about Camera+ when it comes to there no response what so ever.
And it's annoying me to as with so many of us that downloaded it.
My problem is mostly the fact that it's very hard to get the tap to focus/exposure to work on ProCamera and it just makes me upset. When I snap a photo I need it to work right away.
And yes I've erased it and downloaded it again, have great memory on the phone 8GB, and I also did a reboot of it twice. And still it doesn't react on my tap to get the double tapto focus thing.
Well anyway, I guess all apps have there good and there bad sides.
