Glyn Evans In the second interview of this new iPhoneography interview series, I'd like to introduce you to iPhoneographer Kristin Stuthard.
Q. Who are you, and where do you come from?
A. Hello, my name is Kristin. I come from the USA. I have moved around my whole life, I have lived in Chicago, Kansas, Atlanta, Colorado, Texas, Hawaii, and now California.
Q. Is photography a hobby, or does it form part of your day job?
A. Photography is my life, it is a huge passion of mine. Unfortunately I don't have a career in it, but I am hoping someday that will change, because it is more than just a hobby to me, it's everything.
Q. What type of photos do you take, and how would you describe your iPhoneography?
A. I would say I take lots of different types of photos. I like to shoot portraits, and spontaneous photographs of friends, family, and even strangers. Nature shots are another type of photos I love to take.
Q. How long have you been taking photos with your iPhone?
A. I have been taking iPhone photos since the day the iPhone 3G came out.
Q. How many photo's do you think you have taken to-date with your iPhone?
A. I have taken thousands. There was actually a time when my iPhone camera roll was messing up and not properly showing the photos on my phone because I had already taken 10 thousand photos. And that was sometime last year.
Q. Why did you choose the iPhone for capturing the things you see around you?
A. I love that it is small and compact, so I can take it places and take photos without people noticing. I also like editing the photographs with various apps.
Q. What photo apps do you have on your iPhone, and which apps do you use on a daily/weekly basis?
A. I have about 4 pages of photo apps but the ones I use daily are: CAMERAtan, PhotoStudio, Plastic Bullet, Lo-Mob, CameraBag, ToyCamera, Mill Colour, SwankoLab, PictureShow and CameraKit
Q. Where do you currently show off your iPhoneography?
A. I am mostly on Flickr, but I have submitted my photos on EYE'EM, iPhontography, and others. My flickr address is: www.flickr.com/photos/misskris18/
Q. What iPhoneographers inspire you, if any?
A. There are so so many who inspire me. SCW, Greg Louderman and Kay Frederick
Q. If you had to exhibit just one photo that you have taken with your iPhone, what would it be and why?
A. I chose this photo because it might be my favorite iPhone photo that I have ever taken. I just love the way the guy was sanding on the branch, getting ready to take his own photographs, that I had to capture this one of him. It was so beautiful.
