App Update: Cross Process

Cross Process app has just been updated to version 1.5 with the following new features, however upgrade with care, because as @anton_in_nyc has pointed out via his Twitter feed all is not well.

@anton_in_nyc: "Ack! I love your CrossProcess app and use it all the time, but the latest update is messed up. I used to be able to convert different sizes of photos. But now if I try and convert a square pic for example, it comes out in the typical iPhone ratio!"

@ShakeItPhoto: "Sorry about that. We had to make the decision about how to process weirdly shaped photos."

@anton_in_nyc: "That's a shame. All my pics are usually 8x10 or square: http://j.mp/dktNSR Guess I won't be using this app that often... :-("

So what's new?

  • New "Extreme" filter to give your shots that over saturated crossprocess look.
  • Photos are now saved in their original resolution. iPhone 4 owners can get full 5 megapixel images from CrossProcess (this is incorrect!!)
  • Users can upload to Facebook or send an email of their photo right from the application.
  • New Community section to find where you can show off your favorite shots from CrossProcess.

Love the new update (and nearly fell over when I saw Cross Process pop up on my update list..I mean, when was the last time *that* happened?). Sucks that they no longer preserve the original sizing, but I have to say that I would rather they go full res for everything than keep it tiny...hopefully they can fix it on the next update now that they know users want it.

Does it stretch the photos to the iphone aspect ratio? Or does it crop them?

This is my favourite app. I really hope they reconsider the resizing issue!

Hrm. After playing around with CP I have discovered it doesn't really save at full resolution. The highest I get is 1400x1900 and the original is 1900x2500. What is up with this? Now I am a bit more grumpy...

Updates before i saw your warnings. After each postprocessed pick the app crashes ob 3GS iOS4.02 without jailbreak. Reboot or reinstall does not help :( .
They delivered us a beta Software!

DO NOT UPGRADE OR BUY

Resolution is lower than before. 1280x960 on 3GS!

Once the new version is fixed, I'll be happy with it. GREAT APP! Just wait til they work out the kinks. I'm still fan!

:)

Ok, it doesnt't save full res, and it formats squares to 4:3. I'm sure Nick will fix this with an update. He already have let me know they are working on it today.

Why he hasn't the last 8 months? The app was allready good and didn't need anything extra. It does the job, just like ShakeItPhoto.

It's not like Best Camera which crashes all the time and still doesn't get any updates..

@Robert-Paul

Actually, I think that ShakeItPhoto could have used an update by now to increase its resolution. and CP could have used an update before now for flash control, Retina Display, and front camera use.

I'm glad that he is on the ball with the updates, but was a bit disappointed that he passed over updating his apps sooner.

So bummed and sorry about the issues with new CrossProcess update. We are working on fixes now and should have an update within a week if we can get it through the app store quick enough. Please let me know about any issues you are having with the update. We love the feedback and really want to make sure our apps are rock solid, stable, and work full rez as we intended.

Thanks again for all the great feedback and thanks for using CrossProcess. Stay tuned to http://bananacameraco.com/ for more news and updates.

Cheers!

Hey Nick,

to you Cross Process Update everything is said in this comment. For ShakeItPhoto we are asking for full resolution and square masking in the shooting screen for a long time now.
Now you can prove your status of a quality developer.

Give us your best - best of apps and we give us our best - our money :-)

Addition for Nick.

And dont wait too long since Instant Cam will pass you by with full resolution even they have a much longer way than you app. And square mask is also possible. There are apps out.

August 30, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTomba

Last addition for Nick.

And after fixing we await your new to come apps. What do you think of a Kodachrome App?
I would buy this at once.

(!!!!)

everyone seems to have their panties in a jumble. wait it out... he said he's working on it.

it's a great app and the update didn't work, but it's getting fixed.

August 30, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterjanik

I upgraded. I open a photo, try to apply an effect and it crashes. Every time. Looking forward to a fix. :)

August 30, 2010 | Unregistered Commentergheghe

Seriously! Give Nick a break! He's been addressing peoples' comments on Twitter all day.

August 30, 2010 | Unregistered Commentergrey

So, to upgrade or not...decisions, decisions.

August 31, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKC

For those that aren't sure about the upgrade, upgrade on your iPhone try the app out. If you don't like it delete the app from your phone and restore using the original copy on your iTunes.

So... everything is fixed with Cross Process. Are you going to update the info? You updated to show the negative stuff, but now that it's fixed you're just going to leave it?
