App Update: PictureShow

PictureShow which has to be one of the best iPhone apps currently available has just been updated to version 2.3.

So what's new?

  • iPhone4 Ready
  • More Styles are added.
  • Original Size is supported.
  • UI is totally upgraded.
  • Last style setting can be saved & applied at startup.
  • Live thumbnail view applied.

Note: There have been reports that following the upgrade the app keeps crashing on launch.  I have not experienced this problem myself, but the fix seems to be..

  1. uninstall PictureShow
  2. reboot your iPhone
  3. reinstall PictureShow

App is easier to use, and much better looking. Great update !

I'm always surprised by the speed of PictureShow in switch from one filter to another where other apps seem to take a lot longer to apply a different filter.

Just to echo Andy's question, I've spent an hour trying to work out what that button actually does! Any ideas anyone?

@Andy @Pete : That button for change preview resolution. Small one for rough but enable more fast edit speed. Big one for more detailed preview. but it take more processing time in edit mode.

Thanks for the button explanation. Also, thanks for producing such a great app - the number and quality of effect combinations is superb - I hadn't noticed the 'light leakage' section until last night.

Great update! The uninstall, reboot, reinstall worked for me although not on the first try. The developer was fast about getting back to me when I emailed him about the issue last night. That was very highly appreciated.

Excellent update! I was critical of the interface of this one in the previous release. The new version is among the best I've seen.

I have to say that I just downloaded the PictureShow app last night. I kind of was not interested based on the screen shots were used in the app store. I kind of viewed it as another one of the photo apps that are just filled with silly effects and not much else. Boy was I wrong. After reading your reviews here I went a head and grabbed it. Nice app and loving the results. Just upload for examples to my site just last night. Keep up the great work!

This is an awesome update, thank you! Hipsta is starting to get long in the tooth with no updates especially with swanko. This is my main app for now.

So has development ceased for iPhones incapable of running iOS 4.0? This is my favorite app and the idea of being unable to upgrade without buying a new phone makes me sad.

The uninstall/reinstall worked for me, to a point. But now, any time I try to save a photo at full res on my 3G, the app crashes. This is rather disappointing, as I won't be upgrading the phone until March. I wonder if I'll just have to live with lower resolution PictureShow photos until then. :/

3G crashes at full resolution. I've un-installed and re-installed several times. Just throwing that out there.

@xwhiteboy777x, @Tania
First, Sorry for inconvenience. This problem happens due to little memory capacity of 3G model. PictureShow needs large memory capacity to process all effects.
So I recommend you to turn off at least 2 option of 'Frame', 'Noise' & 'Light Leak' in 'Setting' When you save an image in Full Resolution. I'll try to fix it as possible as I can.
