After a false start, Perfectly Clear version 2.1 has just been released and fixes all the crashing problems experienced by most iPhone users, following the recent introduction of version 2.0.
I have personally been working closely with Athentech Imaging, the people behind Perfectly Clear following all the problems introduced by version 2.0, and as a result Perfectly Clear version 2.1 has been been completely rewritten, and now uses less memory, which was causing the crashing on all devices.
In addition to this major bug being fixed, the developers have also corrected the wording of "Perfect Exposure" on iPhone 4, and corrected the dimensions in the settings screen for saving full resolution photo on iPhone 4.
As previously reported, version 2.x of Perfectly Clear now includes an optional noise reduction filter, which can be purchased from with in the app for £1.19/$1.99/€1.59.

Please note: There is a technical glitch with the noise reduction filter not applying and saving correctly on full-res (5 megapixel) images on the iPhone 4. This is being investigate, and an app update should be available soon.

Stable again on 3GS iOS4.1 but slower than old version!
Same pic processed in
- v1.3 about 13 seconds
- v2.1 about 18 seconds without, and 25 seconds with noise reduction
Hmm.
I updated but it will not work with my iPhone 4. It just get stuck on processing.. Waited minutes without anything happening and then i killed it. Tried all kind of photos with same results.. Hints?
Solved it.
1. Remove app.
2. Restart iPhone
3. Install app again.
4. Done.
Works like a charm now! Hope this helps other users with the same issue.
@Marco
Try the following steps
1. delete the app
2. Hard reset your device (pressing home and on/off button as long as the white apple appears)
3. Install app again via your PC/Mac
Should work. Good luck
Is the noise reduction any good? Be nice to see some before/after shots please Glyn.
@Fedorov, yes the noise reduction is good, although like many fixes, it doesn't work for every occasion. I hope to have a review up in the next few days with samples, so stay tuned.
Well this is good news! It's an app I find very useful and use often.
I am not seeing where you purchase the noise reduction filter. Any clues?
Geoffe just play around with the app and you will find the screen in the app.
Thanks Tomba... I played around for like 15 more minutes before i realized that the screen scrolls to the right.
Is anyone else having problems with the noise removal not working? I literally see no improvement in the noise level regardless of where I set the slider.
I do see the noise removal work but in app only. I did a test.
I shot a white wall in a dark room to create noise. I put everything to the left with only noise maxed out to the far right. In the app I can see a lot of noise reduction but then when I save the image, all the settings are there "Except" the noise reduction.
I sent Glyn the samples I took.
For the record. I did remove the app, restarted my phone and reinstalled. Same results.
Thanks Darrin. My experience matches yours exactly. Hopefully Glyn can get some visibility for this issue...
We are testing a few things. Glyn is jumping all over it which is great to see.
Great! If you'd like another tester, just post here and let me know...
I made a test with an example from user Andy in Marty's lifeinlofi. He also has no noise reduction processed with his iPhone 4. Being not the best example i have a difference processing his pic on my 3GS.
Guess there is a bug for iPhone 4 left.
I purchased the noise filter and certainly notice some strange behaviors on my 3GS. Removed, reset, reinstalled. I have four versions of the same poorly lit picture. Three were saved at original size (no, moderate, and max noise reduction) and one at 800x600 with moderate noise reduction. Two conclusions:
1. Changing slider position does not change output. It looks different within the program; identical pictures once saved. There is a significant difference between the filter enabled and not, just no difference between the end result however the slider is adjusted.
2. Saving in different image sizes from Perfectly Clear provides different results. The 800x600 has considerably more noise removed.
I just decided to hop back in and save an 800x600 version with no noise reduction to compare to an original resolution image with no noise reduction to see if the issue is isolated to noise reduction. It is definitely isolated to the noise reduction filter.
I'm happy to provide the images if it helps.
Any update on this?
no update yet?
I'm wondering the same thing. They sure seem to be taking their time with this issue...
