App Store Description: Face Cam is a smart camera app for the best iPhone portrait photos by automatically finding the human face and enhancing your look. Enrich the overall lighting and color tone in every photo. Always look your best with magic refinement of skin quality and facial style. You appear exactly the same, naturally your photo. Beautiful, younger and better.

Auto Face Enhancement

  • Please don't take my picture! Afraid the camera shows your age and minor little imperfections? FaceCam can smooth your worries and give you a refreshed look instantly and for every photo. Ready for your close-up?

Auto-Bright Face Flash

  • Face Cam's powerful image color correction uses automatic light balancing.
  • Auto-detect human face and skin color to optimize the flash settings and create vibrant colorful photos from imperfectly lit images such as over/under exposed, taken with a low quality camera or washed-out due to backlighting.

True Beauty Technology

  • Enhance skin with subtle color adjustment to improve skin color for light, dark and all variations of skin color fitting every culture.
  • Improve skin's complexion and smooth the texture by reducing wrinkles, lines or smoothing rough skin.
  • Easy photo editing: Face Cam includes 2 auto-templates for male and female. For picture-perfect results advanced users can manually enhance faces to provide subtle studio-like improvements within an easy-swipe studio.

Auto Lighting Improvement

  • Ever have this problem? Your iPhone camera works well on a bright sunny day, however you usually get rather dull, dark, or cold looking photos while shooting in-doors with normal lighting.
  • You can not change the weather or lighting, but you can change your camera app which makes you look your best when shooting photos in most any lighting condition.
  • Beautify more than faces, food photography and even whiteboard notes are clearer and more vibrant with Face Cam.

Add Attractive Filter Styles to your Photo: FaceCam provides 11 most wanted camera effects adding artistic style to your shots.

  • warm light: create softer, warmer atmosphere
  • vivid color: enhance by adding contrast and saturation
  • lomo: 4 reminiscent old film looks with dark corners and color shifting
  • sepia: artistic color toning in dark brown, blue and green

Easy snap functions toggle On-Screen Display (OSD)

  • Digital Zoom: 1~4x

Wondering if anybody has used this. Initial reviews are one star.

I tried it out today, just on one crappy photo of me. I was fairly impressed with the results -- I really didn't expect much. I have not yet viewed the image on my desktop computer to see how it fairs when I can see it larger, but so far, I am pleased. The app offers controls as to how much of each effect it applies, which is nice.

I bought it after seeing this post. I was sceptical (as always) but it's actually amazingly good! Highly recommended by me.

Basically took one picture of my girlfriend at breakfast, click the auto-female mask button, and she looks wayyyy better, almost like a new girl, haha. Then I tried one on myself, but I couldn't get it to focus properly, and the shadow from having a light directly ahead seems to break the program quite a bit (it would overlay a weird shadowy mask over the top part of my head).

Back at work at lunch time, I tried taking a picture of myself again under fluoro lights, and this time it worked great. I was also able to get the focus, etc, right; I think the deal is when you use the program's internal camera, you can press anywhere to make it take the photo, but you have to hold it in place much longer than you'd expect... otherwise it goes fuzzy.

Anyway, totally +1 for me, for portrait shots. I have a feeling it won't work on group shots, but maybe they could add something like that seeing as it seems to use face recognition to identify the area where your face is...

The smooth skin feature more often than not looks as if you had some serious makeup overdose. But apart from that the results are worth the buck...

I like the app morebeaute for this and best of all it's free! You can totally adjust the smoothing and the brightness.

First i also used morebeaute. After buying FaceFinish i only use this one. Theres a lite version with a watermark and limitation to 1MP i tested before buying.

This is my review on iTunes. If you take or have a picture that has one face in it, and if the face is big enough and the app recognizes it, then it will do a fair job of smoothing out or enhancing the face. If it does not find the face, there is no way of manually selecting it. It does allow the use of built in filters, but the filters are not adjustable and are available in lots of other apps. At the moment this app needs quite a bit of improvement before I could recommend it.
